Pros

Remote Work Flexibility: FPS embraced remote work, offering the chance to maintain a healthy work-life balance and eliminate the constraints of a traditional office setting. This arrangement allowed me to stay productive while accommodating personal commitments. Industry Passion: Being part of a company that operated in an industry I truly enjoyed was a significant perk. This alignment between my passion and profession fueled my motivation and engagement, leading to a genuine sense of fulfillment in my role. Client Interaction: The opportunity to interface directly with clients was a valuable aspect of my time at FPS. This allowed me to understand their needs firsthand, adapt campaigns accordingly, and build strong professional relationships that contributed to positive campaign outcomes.

Cons

Inconsistent Management: The management practices at FPS left much to be desired. Frequent changes in company direction and strategies created a sense of instability and micro stressors that trickled down to the entire team. This inconsistency often hindered our ability to focus on achieving long-term goals. Communication Gaps: A significant drawback was the lack of clear and timely communication from the management. Vital information, like the evolution of the role and team's direction, was frequently shared after the fact, leaving the team feeling disconnected from the decision-making process. Mismanaged Feedback: Instances of sharing constructive feedback were sometimes mishandled. I experienced firsthand an incident where management asked for public comment via a Zoom meeting. I shared (respectfully) how greater communication transparency was needed from management. This request for open communication led to public criticism, rather than fostering a supportive and growth-oriented environment.

A company that makes you feel dispensable

Pros

Remote work environment, flexible schedule, great colleagues

Cons

When I first started, it had all the signs of a positive, growing environment. That quickly changed. Management made some poor strategic business decisions, and it seems things have been on the downslope since. Since 2022, they’ve went through several waves of layoffs, promising each time that no more layoffs are expected or planned. They’ll go out of the way to make you feel safe and valued as a team member just to lay you off days or weeks later. They give you nothing when you leave, no severance or unused vacation pay unless your state requires it, just a quick Zoom call, and then you’re deleted out of the system before you can even say goodbye to your team members. They also keep (and sometimes even promote) people who consistently turn in work late and let go of people who work hard to ensure their deadlines are met each week. It really seems like there may be some favoritism at play.

Dishonest. Unethical.

Pros

Fully remote company means you can literally work from wherever you want. Stay home, hang out in a coffee shop, travel the world, do whatever you want. You do have to provide your own computer and equipment though.

Cons

They hire new people (at reduced salaries) then lay off the experienced employees. No severance, no notice--you're not even given the chance to say goodbye to your teams, they just cut you off effective immediately. They will also openly lie about layoffs, promising just days before they happen that there won't be any. They differentiate themselves to customers by purporting to deliver "thought leadership" content, but it's the same mediocre SEO writing that everyone else does, at a premium price. A lot of work just gets handed off to freelancers. While the staff writers are very good writers, they are expected to produce "thought leadership" content for several different clients in unrelated fields. One content writer at a marketing agency is not going to be a thought leader in PCB manufacturing, SaaS, and refinery operations all at the same time. They're going to research it on Google like anyone else. It is often clear the writers do not understand even the fundamentals of what they're writing about, yet it gets sold to the customer as "thought leadership." The way they market their service is extremely dishonest.
