      Pros

      Wonderful co workers! Great benefits! Great compensation!

      Cons

      The HR department is a joke. If you come to them with a complaint, they will laugh. There is no such thing as anonymous. They will bring your complaint to the person you are complaining about and they will mention that you specifically are the one who complained. There is almost no upward mobility unless you become best friends with one of your managers outside of work. None of your business is private, and if you think it is, your manager has told at least 8 other people on your team. The company itself has a great idea of the culture and beliefs that it wants but when you get down to the nitty gritty, they aren't being upheld at all.

      Pros

      Great benefits. Lots of opportunities for advancement. Understanding, for the most part, when you have an emergency to take care of. Able to plan vacation days far in advance with almost no chance of those plans having to cancel. Employees who work there are great! You can make some very good friends here! Wide selection of responsibilities based on your personal interest and skills. Definitely a great job if you love helping out people. You get a lot of opportunities to make a difference in someone's life everyday. Many skills you can learn here to either build a career here or to take with you to your dream job. Products offer are something you can definitely stand behind and feel proud to offer your members. Ability to build a close relationship to the members (It's awesome when they only want to see you).

      Cons

      You have to take this job with the understanding that if someone in management doesn't like you for any reason, they will do anything they can to get you to quit. You have to be a "Yes" man. Not a "Why? That doesn't make sense" man. When I worked there, I was accused of doing things that were far from the truth and I wasn't allowed to defend myself. I was told anything I had to say would just be malicious and I should just stay silent. When I was let go, I wasn't allowed to defend myself against the allegations for my termination. I tried to tell them that what they said happened is not what happened, and they told me I was wrong. They have a way of twisting your words and disregarding evidence.

      Fortera strives for a culture that reflects its stated values: Serving others, working as one team, staying positive & having fun, do things better, simpler, faster, and learn & teach. These values are celebrated at an annual Culture Day event and emphasized and rewarded throughout the year. If you share those values, this makes for a uniquely pleasurable work place. This company attracts competent, dedicated professionals and has assembled a top notch management team. They truly care about benefiting their members and employees and it influences management decisions. The people I serve with are sincere in their desire to improve the lives of others - something that is in short supply at most for profit employers. If you come here as a manager, you are given autonomy and support in your decision making. The senior management does a great job communicating the overall goals and visions and depends on you to bring it to life. This is large enough to be challenging and small enough to witness firsthand the impact of your decisions. That makes this a very exciting place to work. The benefits package is the best I have ever encountered anywhere. If you are fortunate enough to be offered employment here, realize that no other employer will match what Fortera offers.

      Cons

      Things can change rapidly here. I consider that to be a good thing, but I recognize that not everyone shares my sentiment. This is a lively, dynamic work environment and that does not sit well with people who are more comfortable with routine. You may be asked to take on responsibilities that are outside of your experience or comfort zone. If you find that unsettling you might be happier elsewhere.

As a company, Fortera works hard to ensure our employees understand our core values - who we are and what we believe in - and we encourage them to live these values every day. We also know that while change can be hard, in order to provide the best products and services for our members, we have to keep looking for better and more innovative ways to serve them. To accomplish this goal, every employee must remain flexible, member-focused, and open to the possibility of why not.
