Pros

You get to meet some really cool people and take a foreign language class.

Cons

Too much work is required of you, even when the position specifically asks for 10-20 hours a week. You're expected to finish things at any time.

Pros

They really care about their students and bring a lot knowledge to the table. The teaching material is well thought through, sometimes overwhelming for students.

Cons

Was micromanaged on a level unknown to me. They have an employment and management structure that it almost came to my mind that they are a cult! A lot of their strategies are difficult to teach and to understand for the student. They micromanage you on what you teach and record your sessions so that they most likely can even copy your teaching methods and use them in the future on their own. I had some students being totally overwhelmed by the material yet I was not allowed to deviate from Freestyles so called teaching methods. They also want you as an advertisement figure on multiple social media platforms to market their lessons and methods better. Not that I only got totally underpaid, their payment structure is hard to understand. I thought I would make an amount as communicated with them prior but all the sudden I got $9 less hourly! Nobody responded to my first friendly but later determined emails about this issue. I stayed in contact with some other former instructors and everybody told me basically the same, underpaid, micromanaged and cult like structure. This is a side job kind of job but they take so much time away from you with all their trainings videos and online meetings that some days I felt like I’m a full hire. Making only $18 hourly I can go flip burgers at a fast food chain on the side and get more out of it.

We encourage employees to proactively communicate concerns so that we can support our staff in any way possible. Regarding our teaching methodology, we are dedicated to providing innovative and the most effective approaches to language learning that align with -and exceed -industry best practices. We learned and developed the flipped model from experts, while drawing from language learning science (which unfortunately is underutilized in the world of language teaching.) Our commitment to excellence is how we became a proven model, and because large corporations hire us to deliver that expertise, we’re committed to ensuring our quality. We aspire to offer professional development not only to meet that quality but to provide a learning environment for all. We're committed to ongoing improvement and strive to provide the best possible environment for both our learners and employees. We'll take this feedback to heart and use it as an opportunity to further evaluate and enhance our practices to ensure everyone's experience at our company is positive and fulfilling.

Pros

Teaching is always a pleasure and the students were really nice.

Cons

The school is atrociously managed. The amount of work outlined in your contract does not at all match with reality. Deadlines and workload at times were unreasonable and management was not particularly kind.
