Disappointingly, my experience at Fuel proved to be mentally draining. Employees are praised for dedicating an unhealthy number of hours striving to complete lengthy amounts of daily tasks while being micromanaged to the point of inefficiency. Senior members of staff are beset by a constant power struggle between themselves to acquire an even more meaningless sense of seniority while completing minimal work, being quick to delegate and pass blame for inconsequential events that could be fixed in a minute timeframe, if a healthy team environment was ever present. “Whatever it takes”, a phrase known company wide, used as a ridiculous backhanded compliment towards employees who have abandoned personal and company values to ensure tasks are completed, clients are somewhat satisfied and learners barely compliant. The workplace offers no more than an ever-revolving door of change, as staff retention seems to be a constant struggle, due to extreme lack of support and development. In agreement with a previous review, for a company who claims to be a leadership and management development specialist, they refuse to utilise their own resources to streamline management across all departments despite receiving requests from employees to do so. The upper echelons of management lack basic leadership and communication skills at a concerning level, ironically, they would benefit more from their own programmes, than any client would. Requests and suggestions are swiftly dismissed by egotistical managers who refuse to accept the input of fellow colleagues on daily matters and in turn belittle them for having a voice or showing any form of fore-thinking. External feedback, from learners and clients, are both met with a mix of ignorance and a self-entitlement that is quickly swept under the carpet under false pretences. Hard work should be the backbone of any company and have its merits, however at Fuel, hard work comes at the cost of your mental health, wellbeing and all-around self-esteem. The company offer nothing to anyone with a sense of drive, self-achievement, passion or strong worth ethic. Instead, they would debase you of any great attributes and form you into a number in an ever-working machine. I have never worked for such a facetious company that claims to offer so much, while simultaneously giving employees so little, stay well away.

-Lack of job security. Fuel is a place where you turn up Monday to see who is still there since Friday. The place tears through a third of its staff every year. This results in the management leading by fear and intimidation to try to keep their staff in line. -Lack of clear management -Lack of career progression -Expectations of overtime
