Pros

None that are worth sharing. No pros.

Cons

There are two teams - one based in America and the other in India. If you're from India, I would not recommend joining this place at all. The culture is only focused for U.S based employees. Indians are hired to do SDR work with no plan of growth, are overworked and are always compared lesser to the team in America. No healthcare, benefits given to Indian employees and with my experience, lack of dignity as well. The managers and senior management overlook your work all day except the time you have to present your numbers in a meeting. You don't really do much but send emails with the hope someone will book a meeting. You cannot transition into a different role and you're stuck.

DO NOT WORK HERE IF YOU ARE BLACK

Pros

I have thought about this for a long time and came up with nothing

Cons

Do not work here if you are a minority or black, the culture is a mess and extremely uninclusive. I was a PM here, They overwork you and pull you in different directions, and they expect you to work overtime for free, and suffered Discrimination.I was onboarded for a week, made you buy your work computer, and fired me 5 weeks after starting on New years while I was on PTO with no warning. They manipulate you into signing an NDA so as to release your final paycheck. No 401k.I have never been so traumatized by a company.

Gipper Response

Thank you for providing your feedback. We are very sorry that you didn't have a more positive experience at Gipper. We certainly acknowledge that working at a startup is different than most jobs - and does require flexibility and above average work ethic given the nature of a high growth, early stage company. To provide some context: We are committed to diverse hiring and you are a great example of that. We offer several different internal employee resource groups that you had the opportunity to join during your time with us. We also provide transparency regarding benefits during our offer process - so all candidates are well-aware of benefits before joining. As you know and received, we also provide all employees a generous technology stipend on their first day to purchase their own devices. We provide all employees a tailored onboarding process which includes an onboarding schedule that clearly outlines what their first few weeks on the job entails. This includes dedicated training sessions on our product, market, customers, and internal team - as well as self guided work. All managers provide coaching opportunities and individual 1v1s with employees to discuss performance on a weekly basis. These are all documented in our performance management platform so that there are clear expectations set. Thank you again for the feedback - whether positive or negative, all feedback is shared with senior leadership and seen as an opportunity to continue to grow Gipper into the best org it can be.

Regressive Leadership and Racist Practices

Pros

There are none, really. ABSOLUTELY ZERO

Cons

As someone who worked for the Gipper team based in India, from my experience, I can say that the company not only perpetuates racism and microaggressions but also subjects its India-based employees to a range of unfair treatment. Beyond the discriminatory layoffs recently where I was a victim, the company exhibits a stark disparity between the treatment of its USA and India teams. India-based employees are systematically denied essential benefits such as health, mental health, dental care, and more. This denial not only infringes upon their basic rights but also places their physical and emotional well-being in jeopardy. The regressive leadership fails to promote or provide growth plans for India-based employees, resulting in their stagnation within the company. This exclusionary approach perpetuates a hierarchy where Indian employees are undervalued and overlooked. Moreover, these employees are burdened with excessive workloads, being forced to work 20 hours more than their US counterparts. It is disheartening to note that Gipper's policies, if they exist at all, appear to be either exclusively designed for US-based employees or are merely written for formality with no real implementation. The presence of an HR department within this environment is nothing short of a laughable illusion. Working at Gipper was an excruciatingly painful experience, both mentally and emotionally. The racism, microaggressions, discrimination, denial of benefits, lack of growth opportunities and excessive working hours created an unbearable work environment for me and several others. I strongly advise against considering employment at Gipper - wherever you are from. No individual should have to endure the mental anguish and discrimination that I and others have experienced during our time at this company.
