Pros

lots of overtime, lots of overtime, lots of overtime, lots of overtime, lots of overtime

Cons

the management treats the employees with total disrespect, the information doesn't get transmitted correctly, the policies and procedures encourage to lie to the customer's face, and if you are somewhat a decent person you'll be disgusted with this type of business of GoldMax's. The way they terminate employees is so cruel, - what they would do is email the entire company that such and such had been terminated,- this is just inhumane. Every minute of my employment with GoldMax I am afraid I'd lose my job just because I have done something slightly differently than they ordered.

Pros

Lots of downtime, tons of 'did that just happen' stories. Paid well for not a large amount of work.

Cons

High pressure sales encouraged/enforced. Bonuses were very numbers based. Working alone in a store could leave you feeling uneasy depending on customers.

Pros

Working independently in a empty store all day getting paid to watch TV and surf the web. Meeting some genuinely nice customers and striking up conversation

Cons

Being trained to trick people to sell their gold or silver for as cheap as possible by schmoozing them up. If we couldn't buy the gold for less than 40% of the value we would get yelled at by district managers. The new trick was to mix all the jewelry together and call it costume jewelry so that we could buy all the real gold and silver with the fake jewelry for less than pennies on the dollar. The company began cutting employees hours drastically and laying off many employees in troves, with not more than a moments notice.
