Pros

-Reputable name in the hospitality industry -Good pay for industry standards -Good place to learn for a short time -Extremely organized -Working with the best in the industry -Extremely well equipped (good facilities)

Cons

-Limited opportunities to advance to management level -Management makes decisions based on the needs of the members but does take into consideration employee needs/ workload -Very little work/life balance -Expect to work many hours for free Years ago I would have recommended this place but so much has gone downhill in recent times. The Granite Club is only good as a stepping stone to get into a better job. Management doesn't recognize, value, or reward the hard work of the front line employees and there is little opportunity for advancement. If you work you work hard here, don't expect anything in return.

Pros

- Interact with children and families

Cons

- Management is underqualified to run this department - Very unprofessional - Always financially struggling, thats why staff work long hours and often left alone with a lot of children. Cutting of hours - Staff yell at each other and no respect - CANNOT voice concerns without being blamed for something else - No announcement to staff if an outbreak of contagious disease (e.g. hand foot and mouth disease, lice)

Pros

- a lot of talented personal trainers - always willing to share knowledge

Cons

- paid for part-time work expected to work full-time hours - management is in a constant power struggle with one another - a lot of plotting and scheming behind the scenes and it really affected my ability to provide good customer service to members - sexual harassment complaint made and there was no follow up from HR or management - overheard multiple comments coming from male management regarding the sexualization of members and their subordinates which created an incredibly hostile and uncomfortable work environment - the thing that did me in was knowing nothing would ever force these people to change how they ran the fitness section; I had no voice and I had developed debilitating cases of depression and anxiety.
