Pros

- Catered lunch on Thursdays - Small teams - Flex hours - Generous benefits through League - Effective product - Good support for juniors (initially...)

Cons

- Disorganized, poor company planning - Executives are too worried about "reverse sexism" - Many higher-ups exiting company right now - Management is very messy - Company grew too quickly, lost too many clients - Holds onto the start-up mindset but has outgrown that phase - Instances of harassment and hostility - Team management is a disaster - Poor onboarding and training - HR shares a lot of anecdotes about confidential info/conversations - Very unclear career progression, flattened job titles - Reckless spending - Feels like they're trying to sell the company off - Weird gimmicks

Potential that no one can act on

Pros

Great co-workers, a great manager, interesting projects, receptive to suggestions (about some things)

Cons

No one in upper management took concerns seriously and there was never any change in how things were done, even if they demonstrably weren't working and it felt stagnant. No career growth opportunities, no formal maternity/paternity leave policies, Canadian HR didn't seem to understand concerns that were brought up in the Austin office about official policies.

Pros

- Many of the people are genuinely nice to work with and supportive of your growth. - The company has a casual culture and nice work environment. Games room, free snacks, catered lunches. - Depending on the team, there's usually some interesting, non-repetitive work to do and managers do their best to help with your career growth.

Cons

- The leadership above team leads and managers get increasingly distant from their employees and concerns are often overlooked or swept under the rug. - The departure of the CTO and COO has left the company under the sole control of the CEO who doesn't know how to manage the product development and organization of the company. He's focused solely on sales and drinks excessively. - The company looks to be positioning itself for acquisition. Most of the focus is on acquiring new clients, looking good to investors and buying out smaller companies to migrate clients over to their eCommerce platform. Not a great place for any tech worker that wants to feel valued. - Mismanagement resulted in massive layoffs recently as the company tries to correct course from over expansion and lost clients. - Front office focused company makes services department employees feel undervalued as they're forced to constantly patch the disconnect between the promises sold by sales team and the product developed by the engineering team.
