I was only in my role 4 weeks and being a recruiter was totally new to me, and not the job for me. I had a week or so of training and after 3 weeks I was being told that I needed to have more new recruits coming through with only about 2 or 3 new candidates daily. We were expected to interview 6 candidates a day - an unrealistic target for the Calne branch. The work hours are very long (8:30 - 5.30) with an hour for lunch with a basic salary of just £19,000. I was also given the opportunity to work 8:30 - 4:30/9:30-5:30 but without having a break, which was very full on. After I handed in my notice I was told to hand over all of my new recruits, including 1 person who had already worked 90+ hours so I should have been entitled to, at minimum my first bonus which was only £20 so I didn't bother arguing. I was unwell and unable to attend work on my last day (a Friday) which meant that I still had a set of keys to the business. I was expected to make arrangements on the weekend to travel for half an hour and hand the keys back to a colleague. As I was unable to personally hand back the keys I posted them, special delivery on the following Monday morning. As I'd been contacted on WhatsApp by another recruiter about the keys I replied to let them know I had posted them and in return was told again via WhatsApp that my entire months salary would be withheld from me until they arrived (illegal and inappropriate). I contacted the Director of the Company to let him know that I wasn't happy with the message I'd received and that another recruiter shouldn't be threatening my pay and that I would expect any correspondence like that to be through official channels like head office or HR(which doesn't exist) and that legally my pay is not allowed to be withheld as I'd contacted Citizens Advice. I never received a response. Horrible treatment in the end and completely unexpected! Even though I had already left I would have really appreciated an apology for the way I was contacted.

Paid through an umbrella company. Falsely advertised plenty of work in surrounding areas, shifts were atleast 15-20 miles from advertising. Rude staff and unhelpful.
