Avoid working here

Pros

Some people are very nice and some benefits and things you receive and get to keep. Life work balance is okay most of the time, although they have a 24h reply policy and anyone can message you on weekends and vacations and they will expect a reply. You might get to travel sometimes, but you always have to share a room with someone else and might need to cook and serve food

Cons

Micromanagement, disrespect to employees, partners, and customers, no industry standards (own language, job description means nothing), ancient tech (skype). They use own tech for day-to-day and it crashes all the time. Lack of support and manpower. The CEO likes long calls at odd times where he makes everyone listen to his rants about politics and tell you how to live your life the Hansa way. Everything in this company is his way or the highway, always. No diversity, no respect, sexism and misogyny, politically correct language is frowned upon. Some words are forbidden to use but not the ones you'd think. The N-word is perfectly ok, but you cannot say ''festive'' for example. Go figure.. Pretty sure he has also been involved in several sexual harassment lawsuits

Thank you for sending us your feedback. I’m sorry that your experience with us did not match our goal of creating a collaborative and inspiring environment for all our people but we constantly search ways to improve. It was nice to hear that you met great colleagues here. We are proud of our smart and friendly international team living on all continents except Antarctica! And thank you for mentioning that life work balance in HansaWorld is fine. We put a lot of effort to balance our people's private challenges and work requirements especially after being pushed to fully remote working during the pandemics. But let me address a couple of your specific concerns. Socialising is very important for us and we believe that cooking together is a great team building activity. As you probably noted everyone is asked to share in this activity when attending some company events. This means that managers and juniors alike get to work together, know each other in person and develop a better level of communication. We do use own ERP system that we sell to the customers for our daily work. We trust our product and also believe that we are the best testers of the newly released versions. Before a new product version reaches our customers, it goes through the scrutiny of our employees. Of course we find bugs and issues that sometimes disturb smooth workflow but we are happy that such issues get caught before reaching our customers. HansaWorld has company language and vocabulary which allow our international team to communicate more efficiently. We also have Communication Handbook for the same purpose. And yes, we avoid using the phrase “Seasonal Greetings” in our company because we believe it does not take much effort to learn proper festivities in different cultures and send personalised congratulations to colleagues. Thank you again for your feedback. I would just wish you were more proactive in sharing your doubts with your manager or HR, so we could support you. If you would like to speak more about your experience, please contact me at hrhelp@hansaworld.com and we will set up time to talk.

A "unique" company

Pros

Travelling to new places You can meet some nice and smart people

Cons

This company is just unique, I have never seen another company where: - Cooking for your colleagues is a high priority, you need to take care of what kind of food they like, if they have some restrictions and of course you need to go and buy the ingredients to do that, it does not matter your position or real work priorities, at some point you must to do those kind if activities - You must drink alcohol, and give toasts every time there is a dinner, otherwise you brake the rules of the cult - If the CEO is not in a good mood you might see how he calls, idiots, stupid, brainless and other bunch of impolite adjectives to your colleagues, and if you are not careful he might yell at you as well - Stone aged mentality in many aspects, they still think that how do you look is more important than your skills, you need to follow dress code even when you never deal directly with customers, suppliers or parters. - Insane and old company policies, if CEO decides that something is not good one day, he will write it down as a company policy and everybody have to follow it - Useless HR department - You will remember your times at Kindergarten, you might feel as a child - Most of the managers do not have skills to be a manager, they are in that position just because they have worked for many years at the company - Very unorganised company

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. I’m sorry that your experience with us did not match our goal of creating a collaborative and inspiring environment for all our employees. We value all feedback and constantly search ways to improve. Let me address a couple of your specific concerns: Socialising is very important for us and we believe that cooking together is a great team building activity. As you probably noted everyone is asked to share in this activity when attending some company events. This means that managers and juniors alike get to work together, know each other in person and develop a better level of communication. We accept the challenges of this activity, for example, we pay attention to the food restrictions of our people, so that everyone at the dinner can eat and feel happy about food. We do serve wine during our company dinners and encourage our employees to toast to promote self confidence in public speaking and as a tradition of thanks giving. It does not mean drinking alcohol is mandatory. You should have noticed that many guests at any company dinner have water only in their glasses. We do have a dress code in our company and we believe this is a reasonable expectation for a work environment as you might not be meeting externals directly but you are visible in the office environment. It is also a mark of respect for your colleagues that you dress nicely and would like to make a good impression on them. Humanity is still at the point where the first impression matters. Our policies are indeed old. Most were written 20 years ago by our team and based on our company experience. Not a single policy has been created on the spur of the moment. But yes, some are outdated by now. Thank you again for your feedback. I would just wish you were more proactive in sharing your doubts about company policies and traditions with your manager or HR, so we could support you. Pros

Some nice collegues, thus many of those has left recently. Working with some interesting technologies. Tech oriented company. International atmosphere.

Cons

Heavily downsized lately. CEO Karl Bohlin has "management with fear" style. More like Mr Bohlin´s playground than a normal company.
