Pros

They have decent benefits, but that is about the only good thing. They offer employer paid dental and vision. Their health insurance has very reasonable premiums and deductibles. The drug rider is very good. Vacation is fine.

Cons

The agency is run by a cliquish group of managing directors who have all worked together for years. There is little care or concern about anyone else who works there. Seems near impossible to get anyone to talk to you if you have questions or concerns about anything. The leadership team books their calendars in such a way as it is near impossible to find any open time to meet with anyone you might need to talk to. They are very militant about the rank and file filling out 40+ hour a week time cards on a daily basis. They publicly call out people who do not meet their standards for filling out timecards in a timely fashion. They schedule every minute of most people's days and have little flexibility in terms of your work week which leads to issues when unexpected challenges arise. No time allocated for things like training and personal growth. Confusing policies like half day Fridays without any explication as to how it works. Leadership appears to just not work Friday afternoons without working late other days of the week. Lower level employees are apparently required to work the extra hours. There does not appear to be any real plan in place for bringing in new business. While many companies are struggling right now, Hanson appears to be struggling more than most as evidenced by recent firings of recently hired employees with no warning and absolutely no compassion is how it was handled.

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We certainly welcome candor, and aim to continuously improve the experience for all employees, now and in the future. Some of what you have provided speaks to known challenges we are actively working through — many of which we’ve made great strides in recently. Other commentary highlights differences in perspective, which obviously every individual is entitled to. Regardless, we’re dedicated to taking all feedback into account—including perspective we may not fully agree with—to better inform the choices we make going forward. We know we’re not perfect, and that we won’t always get things exactly right in all instances. But we’re committed to getting better every day, and making the necessary adjustments that help us do that. If you have any more ideas, questions or feedback that you would like to share, please share directly with me here: Michael.Hirsh@hansoninc.com
