Pros

The campus is in a great location. The amenities are fantastic as well. You will work with some wonderful and talented people. You will learn skills and work with technology that is transferable across the industry. Equipment and tools are kept up to date

Cons

The job itself. The R&D department is a complete mess and it will only get worse in the coming months as the reorg fails and more talented employees leave. The senior leadership in the department are not in their roles because of their skills, it's because they were sycophants for the previous CTO. The cronyism and nepotism is rampant, as other reviews have pointed out. You will see unqualified people promoted into senior roles with no accomplishments to their names. You will watch people you care about burn out and fail as they are overworked. Pay is also pathetically low for what is expected of you. This is no longer a small shop but an international company. The company flat out lied about promising pay banding information for the department. Perks are deteriorating as the company focuses on absurd profit goals to appease the private equity owners. Department morale is in the gutter.

Pros

Hyland provides chairs to sit on and new PCs for developers once every 7-10 years or if they break down beyond the point they can be repaired. Hyland actively recruits, promotes, and focuses support on college graduates and those still in college, relying on them to craft much of their software. This all but guarantees the utmost quality of the software and greatly lessens the likelihood of glaring architectural oversights that might have been made by more experienced developers.

Cons

The only thing worse than the abysmal pay, lack of raises, lack of advancement opportunities, declining perks, perpetual reorganization, bi-annual HR requests to fill out a "best place to work" survey, obviously fake, HR-planted glassdoor reviews for damage control, and rudderless senior management ... is the embarrassment I feel each day knowing that I still work here and haven't already moved on.
