Pros

Company recently moved to the Carmel Mountain area that is surrounded by restaurants and shopping. Co-workers are diverse, friendly, intelligent and fun people. Benefits are OK, but could be better.

Cons

In no particular order: Parking situation at the new office is terrible. Not enough spaces and the one's that are there are too narrow. Several cars have been damaged. New open floor plan was designed to foster collaboration but instead is loud and not conducive to working, especially if you need to concentrate. People are more likely to stand around socializing instead of working. In some places lighting is too dark, in some places too bright. Break rooms are right in the work space and too close to areas where people work. Smelly food drifts throughout the work space. Inexplicable tours are conducted throughout the day making you feel like you're in a zoo. C level folks wander around with sour looks on their face. The IT department is under new leadership. So far not impressed or encouraged by the direction they seem to be headed. There seems to be a lot more secrecy amongst upper management and decisions are being made that appear to be more ego-driven and self-serving than anything else. Favoritism is rampant, alienating those that are not among the chosen few but hard-working nonetheless. Upper management has been known to openly rundown and criticize Co-workers and subordinates.

No reason to work here

Pros

Office headquarters are next to Costco.

Cons

I wish I could think of one reason to stay here, but I honestly cannot. 99 out of 100 companies in San Diego have a better benefits package. Most insurance companies actually help you or pay for a good chunk of your health, dental, vision, etc. The last company I worked for paid for it all, but ICW does the bare minimum (that goes for retirement too). ICW does not practice anything they preach. Example: "We value your feedback." Company does not listen to suggestions and has made no effort to improve anything in the couple years I've been here. Another example, "We value diversity." Doesn't appear to be a reality. Let's break down the tenets of the company and how ICW does not live up to them. Honor: Promises that are made during your interview process do not get "honored" once you are hired. Integrity: This means a company should have a culture of fairness. Top performers are not rewarded fairly which is why they all leave. Passion: Insurance is not an exciting industry so the least you can do is create a great culture. The most passionate people get chased out for trying to innovate and make improvements. If you want passionate workers, show them that you actually care. Focus: Leadership is focused on cutting costs, not on customers, and definitely not on employees.

Pros

If you’re a valuable employee to the industry and try to leave for better opportunities and pay, that’s when they finally take notice of you and give a counter offer to stay. And the best part is, they offer to help you grow, and let’s just say it’s all talk, but no show! So the pro is if you’re that good, there’s possibility of counter offer to make more!

Cons

They say they’re a technology forward company, but that’s because they finally implemented salesforce, which is still in the works since there have been many complications in integrating with their other systems that are viable to their employers and customers due to the lack of expertise in the IT department. If that’s what you consider technology driven, then everyone else must be AI driven! Like I said, they’re all talk, but no show!
