Small but mighty organization!

Pros

- Work from home policy: Only 1-2 days per week in the office. - SmarTrip benefits/Parking Reimbursement: IFA contributes monthly funds toward metro for metro riders & parking reimbursement for drivers. - Work culture: Not a lot of micromanagement. Pleasant work environment. Colleagues appear to work well together & get along outside of the office. Decent/okay work-life balance. It’s usually a ghost town in the office by 5 PM. - Salary: IFA rewards and values hard work. It does not go unnoticed. There are opportunities for growth & promotions. Bonuses are above average for this sector. - Certification: Free in-house certification program for staff to earn professional credential in franchising.

Cons

- Very small organization: Because IFA is a small organization of no more than 35-40 employees, many staff wear many hats so the workload can be overwhelming at times. Work is fast-paced & most challenging around annual convention. - “Non-profit?”: IFA is classified as a “nonprofit” but it seems to operate as a private company. Not a bad thing but there is sometimes pressure to meet departmental revenue/budget goals.

Pros

-IFA's members and their representatives are generally great to work with, support and learn from -IFA's mission and issue set is coherent, easy to support and ideologically sound -IFA's staff are by and large professional and hard working -Office culture is mostly friendly, easy-going and collegial -Some teams foster initiative-taking and creativity

Cons

-Government Relations team outweighs all the other teams put together -Minimal budget for staff development aside from in-house certification program -Virtually an HR-free zone (partially a pro, mostly a con) -Interdepartmental collaboration processes are mostly ad-hoc -Poor development and retention of junior staff
