Pros

The employees are very smart. Great benefits.

Cons

BAD executive team and CEO. Unethical practices among them. Favoritism is rampant in all departments. VERY male oriented. The creative department leadership makes decisions like it is 1882 and against any and all minorities. There is no work life balance. By the time you work all of the required extra hours, the salary may not even amount to minimum wage They refuse to pay for employees cell phones but expect employees to use them to speak with clients. They are very cheap in a lot of other ways too.

Thank you for your candid feedback. It’s unfortunate you did not have a positive experience with IMM - it obviously isn’t what we hope for employees while at IMM. However, we need and appreciate this candor to continue to grow and transform our business while addressing the views of our team members. We categorically disagree with any claim that our team operates in an unethical manner. Our commitment to ethics and integrity is unwavering, and for that reason we encourage you to connect privately so we have an opportunity to hear the specifics of any concerns. We are dedicated to looking into any concern with discretion and professionalism, and 100% committed to a fair, honest and supportive environment where anyone can thrive. As you experienced, IMM is a rapidly growing agency – 35% growth in our staff in the past year alone. While not possible at all times given our industry, we try our best to maintain a reasonable workload for our professional team. Over the past year we have worked hard to bring on new clients, new talent and new tools. As we continue to grow, we are looking forward to improving our efficiencies and ensuring that our team continues to feel positive about their contributions to IMM’s future. Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts.

People don't leave bad companies, they leave bad management

Pros

Most of the people are hardworking, creative, brilliant contributors who truly want this agency and their accounts to succeed. Health insurance is great, flexible WFH options and PTO are solid (when you're actually able to use them..), catered lunch a few times/week, plenty of parking, beautiful office with views of the mountains.

Cons

Management. Hands down, this place is losing steam because they grew too quickly without adequately staffing a skilled team of leaders. Is every manager poor? Absolutely not, and a lot of them are great. But there are glaring leadership holes in several crucial areas. This leads to an incredibly reactive culture; everything is a fire drill, nothing is organized, and everyone is working 60+ hours/week just to try and stay afloat. During the Holidays? Traveling on client business? You're looking at 70-80. And sure, they love to play the "this is just agency life" card, and maybe that would be fair.. if you were fairly compensated. But you won't be, because fair salaries at this company are reserved for people whose qualifications look great in AdAge PR, even and especially if they have no practical application to the IMM business model. This all leaves a lot to be desired in terms of career growth and salary advancement.

Layoffs cap terrible year at IMM

Pros

Of the remaining employees, there are still some of the best and brightest people you would ever hope to find in the business at IMM.

Cons

While the remaining staff at IMM continues to embody the best asset the agency has, a year of massive turnover, no new business wins, loss of existing clients and now a big round of layoffs caps the worst year in IMM's history. 2017 doesn't look any better.

Thank you for your feedback. I agree that there are some of the brightest people you'll come across in business, here at IMM. We anticipated 2016 looking as it did. As such we approached this year from a staffing perspective to manage certain employees out of the business, while doing our absolute best to retain the best and brightest. Sometimes we were successful, sometimes we were not. Either way, we remain at about the average voluntary turnover for advertising agencies for the year. I want to do better than average in 2017 but it will be an indicator of how well we execute our strategic plan. On new business, I think it’s important to make sure we share a balanced view and acknowledge that we did have new business wins this year. With these, we have grown our relationships and portfolio in restaurant, contract employee-placement and after-market automotive clients. In fact, we will have doubled our new business goal by the end of this year. It’s possible that you were not exposed to either the new business efforts or to those accounts, in general. Finally, businesses have ups and downs. It’s often the downs that create the innovation and sense of urgency to accomplish things that a successful business would allow to pass it by.
