Pros

Co-workers were competent, many were very capable. Recent immediate supervisors were very good. People helped each other and worked together when needed to solve problems. Had the resources necessary to work.

Cons

Previous CEOs and top management made some very costly acquisitions which required half the company to be sold. The company is focused on seismic data acquisition and processing for oil and gas exploration. There is little demand for that now because fracking has flooded the market with oil and gas. In the near future , global warming, climate change, and the environmental cost of fossil fuels will encourage the development of sustainable sources of energy and depress the demand for fossil fuels.

5 layoffs in 3 years!

Pros

It's always the people in a company that are missed the most, especially on the floor. High tech stuff is cool.

Cons

CEO and CFO gotta go. They deceive new hires and old timers into thinking there is hope . With these guys at the helm, good luck. And, Engineers are running the company down, and are responsible for the SLOW moving fixes to the problems, and guess what? All of these survive every layoff.

Pros

Great people to work with, flexible schedule, 401k matching (even in the downturn), international travel opportunities, solid operations dept. The salaries are top of the range.

Cons

nepotims rears its ugly head in a couple places. The recession has hit pretty hard and major cost cutting going on at the moment. CEO is stuck on Ocean Bottom Cable as the pathway to the future, but the business has not taken off as forcast.

Pros

Great immediate boss and great co-workers. Laid back culture with flexible work options at the discretion of the individual manager that you work for. If you have the right manager, you can learn a lot in this company and make lasting friendships.

Cons

The vision for the company is flawed and CEO is partial to one division or another based only on their latest performance figures rather than seeing the bigger picture. Upper management has stayed virtually intact after the layoffs that have reduced the company to half its size. Middle management is inconsistent, wants to control the processes without technical skill or the management skills to help the base grow.
