Pros

They let you work from home. Working from home allowed me to happily work at least one hour extra a day (often two), and also come back in the evening to make sure I could unblock everyone else working globally.

Cons

I initially intended to rate this job with two stars, but ultimately gave it a one-star rating in order to counterbalance the numerous non-genuine five-star reviews that were solicited by the company itself. My experience working at this company was characterized by disorganization, chaos, and a pervasive culture of promoting early joiners to high-ranking positions regardless of their qualifications or merit. The prevalence of VPs and Chiefs only serves to exacerbate this issue, as they continually shift priorities and backtrack on decisions, all while engaging in rounds of layoffs despite purportedly being well-funded and actively hiring. A whole team of very high performant individuals disappeared overnight The company's corporate politics and focus on achieving unattainable OKRs only serve to undermine the hard work of honest employees, resulting in a frustrating and stressful work environment. Additionally, the company's emphasis on the value of 'speaking your mind' is disingenuous, as employees are discouraged from voicing their opinions if they do not align with those of their superiors. Overall, I found that there was little opportunity for career advancement unless one had personal connections to the company's executives, and I would caution anyone considering employment here to carefully weigh the potential challenges and drawbacks before making a decision.

Hi there, Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences about Immutable. It’s great to hear that you enjoyed working from home and made use of our flexibility offerings. We know the recent restructures have impacted the roles of some of our employees, and we understand that this can lead to people feeling frustrated and saddened by these changes. We want to support anyone feeling this way, so we encourage you to reach out to use our Employee Assistance Program and coaching services. We disagree that we solicit five-star ratings. We offer every employee the opportunity to post honest ratings, and we are pleased to see that so many Immutables love our culture. We are surprised to hear your experience was one of disorganisation and chaos. We often hear the opposite of having lots of structure and process in place. We also disagree that early employees receive advantages such as promotions based on their relationships with founders. Our promotion outcomes do not reflect this at all. We are also proud of having a mix of early stage employees and newly hired executives in senior management roles, all bringing diverse backgrounds, qualifications and experiences. In response to your comments in relation to giving feedback, as you would know, one of our values is ‘We lovingly speak our mind’. Feedback is an important part of our culture. We ensure that there are multiple channels for every Immutable to communicate with and give feedback to colleagues, their manager, the exec team and founders. Hopefully as you experienced during your tenure, there are office hours for all execs, there are regular town halls and AMA’s as well as multiple employee engagement surveys and listening cycles per year. In saying this, not all feedback can be taken on as leaders need to make tough decisions with trade offs. In relation to your comments about our funding and hiring, we have been open about our strong financial position and our hiring throughout the re-organisation as these decisions were not related to funding issues but were made as a result of strategic changes happening in the Company. Change is part of the journey for fast-growing companies. We appreciate the time you took to write this feedback, and if you wish to share any further details on your experience at Immutable, reach out to me, Kath Rau, at kath.rau@immutable.com. Thank you.

Pros

- If money is the only thing you are looking for, then yes this place does offer good salary. - HR team asked the new joiners (who were just 1-2 weeks into their roles) to leave good ratings here.

Cons

This place sets a great example of wasting the investors' money into a political battlefield. - Extremely toxic coworkers who always set traps for people to fail. I was treated as the target for no reason since day 1. The team members who joined earlier do nothing else but withhold information, avoid sharing, verbally abuse me, steal my work, and blame it back to me after they drown themselves with the work they rob from others. - No team building. No roadmap, no career path. The leadership is very distant and passive aggressive. They acknowledge the feedback humbly but never make actual changes. Everyone in the team has a broken heart for months, broken in a way that everyone feels lost, insecure, and hence try to survive by killing others. - No transparency on decision making. The feedback from open discussions didn't result in any actual consideration. Key decisions were made behind closed doors, and the team was just required to make miracles happen. - No actual progress of the project and this is as horrible as the toxic culture. I learnt nothing meaningful throughout my time here, and this experience certainly didn't contribute to my career at all. - Unclear scope and imbalanced workload among team members. Some are swamped, some have an empty work calendar. This is mainly due to ignorance of the toxic politics.

Pros

Met some great people but they did not stay long because the either got demoted, or they were made redundant for speaking their mind.

Cons

***Please note that some positive reviews may have been promoted by the Immutable team. Therefore, it may be beneficial to consider the critical reviews first *** In agreement with other critical reviews, the studio aspect of the business has a toxic and disorganised working culture, with limited opportunities for career progression and questionable hiring practices. The company is repeatedly hiring for positions that are not needed, resulting in redundancies and demotions for current employees, without taking into account the impact on their well-being. The company culture, which emphasizes speaking one's mind, may not apply when it comes to criticizing decisions made by the C-suite. The middle management is aware of these issues and tries to address them, but is limited in their ability to do so. Despite the company's claims of being in a good financial position, employees have been demoted exclusively for financial reasons, causing distress and negative effects on their mental health. Company's once strong culture and values have diminished, with the outsourcing of good intentions to new, ruthless C-suite hires in the studio department who prioritize saving money over the well-being of their employees.
