Pros

- nice office location: close to Reston town center, good parking - laid back office/coworkers - this can be a pro or a con, pto is separated from sick leave. you only have 10 pto days but 9 sick leave days.

Cons

- my experience...ineffective management I can only talk about what I experienced first hand, I'm sure a lot of people whose goals aligned with the company's plan really enjoys it here, but mine didn't and it was a nightmare. I was kept in the dark for most decisions and had no say in my career path. Management lied to me about the conditions of a project, didn't fulfill the promises of remote days, and forced me to stay there longer than what I agreed to until I finally quit. When things got tough no one would answer my emails or messages, I would be ghosted for months and then someone would say "Hey how are you?? why are you unhappy? I thought you wanted to be here??" When I've made abundantly clear this project isn't where I want to stay and my problems with it. When I called out my manager for not fulfilling his promises he turned around and pointed fingers at me asking me "why can't you just get over it? some people would consider metroing to dc everyday a piece of cake. maybe you're just not strong enough." No one from the management team alleviated my pain points. I asked for remote days (which was guaranteed before the project started), tolls/parking reimbursement, and an end date and was 0 for 3. They actually made me stay on the project for longer and didn't offer me anything in return... Not getting what I was promised and what I later asked for sucked but they even made the process bad because I couldn't get an answer for the longest time. I actually remember my manager asking "did you ever get parking?" and I was just ??? "Did you ever get me parking??" In my particular case it felt like I was dealing with a placement company who just decided to shrug and say well, we're going to make as much money off her before she finally gets too unhappy and quits. I know they kept me there even though I was unhappy because that's what's most profitable for the company. Unless there was a financial justification for taking me off the project they just weren't going to care about my career path, their promises, and my unhappiness. It's also disheartening to feel like the majority of the company is hostile towards you for leaving. I heard people who would say things like "this is the job, she signed up for it" which just isn't true. I signed up to work for another team and they moved me against my wishes. I fulfilled my part of the deal and completed what they told me at the beginning. I can truly say I was treated much better during my 2 week notices/throughout my resignation from the company where my project was and even the placement company that handled the project. The situation and ghosting also got so bad that my own manager didn't even respond to my letter of resignation and had someone else respond to it hours later. Some other things that happened either to me or my coworkers: - little control of career they do this weird thing where their first impression of you really sticks and whatever you do later is kind of irrelevant. you'll be typecasted and only put on projects/tasks that THEY think is suitable for you. Unless you're lucky, you'll be stuck doing whatever they hand down to you. - favoritism management ranks you against your team (they really do this is how your pay is determined) and the favoritism is clear as day. "we'll make sure you get what you want because you're ranked the best of your team". If you're not highly ranked... chances are you won't be paid as well and you won't be on projects you want to be on. - pay if you start from the bottom of the consulting ladder you will be very underpaid here. also if you start your career here, you will have to go through months of training where they pay you something like an intern's hourly wage. even when I was on the delivery project I wasn't getting paid what delivery consultants make. - micromanaging the new time tracking system makes your break down your day into separate task and how many hours you spent on each task - hours certain projects will require you to work after hours, weekends, and holidays. Luckily I didn't have to, but a lot of my coworkers did. If you don't volunteer to sacrifice holidays or weekends management will label you as lazy/not reliable/not a team player. Some of my coworkers had to work on Thanksgiving/Christmas/NYE. - no 401k matching

Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate your recognition of our office culture and awesome team, but am unhappy to hear about your experience at our customer site. We are fiercely dedicated to our customers and when we make commitments to them, we deliver. But our people are our most valuable resource, and we know we’re able to provide the highest level of service to our customers only when our employees feel valued and fulfilled. Your feedback helps us continue improving our methods to help them do so. As a small and rapidly growing company, we are often moving at lightning speed and we still have a lot to learn. We are proud to be one of the Washington Post’s Top Workplaces for the fourth year in a row, but know we need to continue learning and evolving everyday to maintain these accolades. I'm disappointed we weren't the right fit for each other, but wish you success in your future endeavors.

Pros

-The company culture is very unique. They've made it their mission to create an optimal environment so work does not always feel like work. There is an open floorplan (which can be good and bad), food was provided often, and the team was great to work with. -Remote Work was an option and made it easy to handle personal matters or save money when commuting. HR was beyond great. The individual running HR was easily one of nicest and motivational people I've ever met. She carried herself so well that it made a lasting impression on me. You do learn the basics of Databases, Service Management, and tech support.

Cons

It seems like the company is split in two. There are the traditional Consultants and then a start-up like team of Technical consultants who's services are offered as a product. This could be hard to navigate at times and it seemed like the traditional consultants did not find value in the smaller team, and acted as such. For the small team, The method used to determine a salary is completely flawed. Usually teams of 5-10 individuals (with either no, or some experience in technology) are hired. They are put through a training boot camp to learn about tech, and the tools the company uses to provided value. After that training, salaries are distributed. You would think everyone in the class would receive the same salary , but the company bases it on factors that are arbitrary and in no way determines value. I've seen people put in loads of work making 55k while some people made much more doing less. It's a system that needs to change. The Salaries DON’T match the cost of living for the area. People are coming out of college doing the exact same thing but making almost 10-20k more. Pay people so they can thrive, not just survive. There was Obvious favoritism and this affected who would get better opportunities. It seemed like the same 3-5 people were the only ones given the chance to join good projects. How do you expect the people you hire to grow if they are doing monotonous tasks? You are only a consultant by name, not by work. Unless you are in that pool of 3-5 favorited people, you are nothing more than a glorified support agent who doesn't have to live on a phone. I was told that I had the opportunity to join the more traditional consultants after a certain amount of time, but it the company has create a revolving door of growth where instead of going up, you go around on the same team. Communication from Management was flawed. Do not make promises you can't keep, or give your employees your word and not follow through. I had colleagues who were completely left in the dark around their time on a project. People have lives and need to at least make accommodations based on the requirements of the project. Don't promise you'll make those accommodations for them or at least try, not follow through, and then leave your people hanging. It's a bad look and no matter how you spin it, as an employer all eyes are on you.

Thank you for your feedback and for taking the time to let us know what didn't work for you. I appreciate your recognition of our positive environment, awesome team, and flexibility. And you’re right, the individual running HR really is fantastic. I’m disappointed to hear we didn’t meet your expectations for career progression. We are improving our managed services team and product everyday, including working to better integrate and collaborate across the business. Your feedback will be used and analyzed to ensure situations like the ones you describe are avoided. We do things differently than other consulting firms, operating under a flat organizational structure and encouraging our employees to define their own career paths within the organization. We support our employees in learning new tools and expanding their skillsets, and provide the opportunity for lattice movement in addition to the traditional ladder. We care about our people, and know we have a lot to learn and a lot of work to do. We are proud to be one of the Washington Post’s Top Workplaces for the fourth year in a row, and use these accolades as fuel to continue learning and improving to better serve our people and our customers. I wish you the best and hope you find the right fit that allows you to develop personally and professionally in the direction you’re looking for. Take care, Jesse White, President

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and feedback. We recognize that 2025 has been a challenging year, and Intact has faced some difficult moments. We understand the impact these events can have on employee morale. To encourage open communication, we’ve hosted weekly—and now monthly—Open Q&A sessions with our CEO, Jesse, to invite direct dialogue with employees. We remain committed to regular All Hands meetings to provide transparent updates on important topics, and we continue to leverage our Employee Advisory Board to help guide decisions with employees’ perspectives in mind. While we did update our guidelines for utilization—aligning with the industry standard of 80% billable utilization for client-facing team members—this change was not a reduction in PTO. We continue to offer a flexible PTO policy that has not changed, along with 20 company holidays. This flexibility is highly valued by many employees, and our recent “Time Well Spent” initiative was designed to help team members balance that flexibility with business needs and client commitments. We take feedback seriously and remain focused on learning from our experiences and improving how we work together. Our commitment is to build trust, strengthen our culture, and maintain a workplace where people feel supported and heard. If you are open to it, we would welcome the opportunity to connect offline to better understand your perspective and suggestions. Feel free to contact me at pivey@intact-tech.com. Thank you again for your feedback, Patrice
