A company to avoid

Pros

The core staff are great to work with and very friendly. The working hours are flexible and you have the option to work from home one day a week which is a plus. Free coffee and drinks etc. are good but pretty much a standard nowadays.

Cons

This is not a place to work if you value a stable, fulfilling career. The company seriously lacks leadership, and management (regular performance reviews, training, guidance, support, progression) is almost nonexistent. Unfortunately the CEO treats the company as a part-time hobby and regularly makes significant business decisions out of the blue with little business case, resulting in continued disarray of the teams within the business and ultimately creates the lack of cohesion or direction that the business has. Recent redundancies and staff departures, without recruiting replacements, leave an already small business short on staff amongst ever declining morale. The ‘exec’ team have an unfortunate proclivity to mislead, and in many cases simply lie to both employees and clients on the state of the business, the product and the finances, which will ultimately lead to further departures of both staff and clients as the company scales down.

Pros

Great team of knowledgable staff. Great flexibility and working from home. Potentially lucrative industry, although, competitors are showing as clearly ahead.

Cons

I can see Intilery being ahead of the curve a number of years ago, however, the inability to finish a new project has left them severely by the wayside. This is due to lack of good knowledgable management as well as developers being pushed and pulled all over without clear focus. With every new client came new requirements, which were always oversold to the client and unfortunately under delivered and not up to the standard clients were expecting. This has more recently led Intilery down a path of instability, so beware.

Pros

Relaxed atmosphere Everyone's easy going and very understanding if you make mistakes, no blame culture Knowledgeable members of staff Very flexible work hours Easy to leave your work behind at the end of the day There does seem to be a very positive drive towards improving employee morale

Cons

Difficult platform to figure out Not much support as everyone's busy, especially the more senior members of staff There’s a clear divide between management and employees Spur of the moment decisions regarding company structure Slow progression in salary, and promotions don't seem to exist No company mission besides making money, leaving no goals for anyone to work towards Not much impetus for anyone to take pride in their work, no recognition for work done above and beyond, not much provision for doing things properly Lacking in technical leadership Overall, a lack of consideration for any of the devs, leading to a feeling that they're not valued
