Pros

Sometimes interesting work and a breadth of clients throughout the insurance sector.

Cons

Poor management, lack of recruitment, and poor internal processes which waste fee earners time. High targets coupled with poor regional hourly rate agreements.

Pros

Can’t think of any pros

Cons

Toxic management, workplace bullying. No constructive criticism. Even colleagues would be prepared to snake and throw you under the bus instead of trying to support one another.

Good people, poor management

Pros

The staff are lovely and good team atmosphere (obviously dependant on where you worked in the firm). If you were good at your job in entry level roles, then you could get a promotion in the first two years or so.

Cons

There is a disconnect that sometimes arose between management and the staff doing the day-to-day. Poor technology (HR, IT and Business Development) and slow change of culture heading in a negative direction plus increase in stress among teams at the time when I left.

Pros

Modern offices with good facilities, has generous benefits and perks. Most colleagues are friendly and supportive and there’s a decent variety of work across teams. There are also opportunities to work with big and high profile clients, which can be great experience.

Cons

A lot of senior management and partners aren’t very approachable with the culture feeling a bit old school. The office atmosphere is strict, with an expectation to work in silence, which makes it hard to collaborate or feel part of a team or even feel like there's any point in coming into the office. In the London office especially, some partners have a reputation for intentionally intimidating or patronising junior staff, which creates an uncomfortable and demoralising environment. There’s still a tendency for partners to bring in their kids for work experience! Socials still tend to revolve around drinking, which isn’t inclusive for everyone. Sespite multiple people requesting different types of socials which are activities instead of drinking but these are ignored. When we do have social, conversations can feel cliquey and exclusive. Communication and transparency from the management needs a lot of improvement, Some partners are known for being overly controlling or difficult to work with and it’s not unusual to hear them speaking negatively about each other or other colleagues in the office. There’s also a noticeable divide between fee earners and support staff, with some partners treating non fee earners, such as facilities staff, quite poorly.

The people are generally great and are probably the most positive aspect of the firm

Cons

Huge disconnect between management and staff - staff generally don’t feel valued or listened to which has led to multiple departures

Pros

- Great People/ Culture: Working alongside talented, collaborative colleagues in a genuinely supportive environment - Work-Life Balance: The hybrid working arrangement is genuinely flexible and management shows real understanding that employees have personal commitments and life outside of work - Growth: The firm is scaling quickly and making continuous improvements. I have found leaders to be transparent about the firm's direction and challenges, and to actively seek staff input/feedback. There are several promising initiatives and projects in development that show the firm's commitment to innovation and growth.

Cons

- Compensation: While salaries are competitive, there's room for improvement to better retain and attract top talent. - IT Infrastructure: Some technology and systems issues occasionally impact productivity, though the firm is actively addressing these problems and making improvements.

Pros

Your experience in Defense group is highly dependent on who your managing partner is. Good work-life balance. Manageable case load. Fellow associates generally nice and willing to help. Secondment program allows you to take a week long work trip to another Kennedys office anywhere in the globe and learn about foreign legal system. Depending on your team, you can handle some really interesting cases that even go outside of ID realm.

Cons

Support staff sucks. Management doesn't want to invest in support staff. Pay is not the best. NY firm is a bit siloed. Its still ID work so it can get miserable at times. Sometimes firm culture can be a bit catty - lots of people talking behind your back and you gotta watch what you say to certain folks.
