Absolutely Hate It Here

Pros

Nice office Great people (outside of management) who work hard and are not really valued. CEO - Ryan is honestly a genuine good person who has the remarkable ability (given his status) to be able to relate to nearly everyone. I would even go so far to say that out of all of the execs he is the most warm and friendly. He may get upset about numbers and will vent from time to time, but that is expected. Overall while working at this company I have never met a single person that has had a bad experience with Ryan. My only wish is that his exec team (majority) had his qualities. Company events are nice

Cons

The "Executive Clique" which operate more like a bunch of high school girls. For most of them, it is a popularity contest. If one of them hates you, they all hate you and it shows when they blatantly try to avoid you in the hallway or on the elevator. It seems that most of these people do not have a mind of their own. The president of the company (Dave Calhoun) is quite possibly one of the most vile and angry (passive aggressive) human beings I have ever encountered. Anyone that does not look and act/think the way he does are "too weird" and those are his words. I was in a meeting with him recently and he once again found a new way to talk down to people in the most condescending manner even when he was wrong. It was after that meeting that I updated my resume and began searching for a way out. You should not be able to get away with talking to people the way the way he does and in any other setting he would be removed. Dave also does not seem to be able to communicate with millennials in the office or in general and since millennials are the most sought after and growing market segment, this company will ultimately fail unless a change is made. Revolving door of employees. Too many meetings which are a waste of time. They DO NOT PROMOTE within the company. It is pure insanity that there are people who have been sitting in Manager or VP positions for years interviewing candidates to be their boss (SVP and higher).

Thanks for the feedback. We agree, Ryan is a genuinely good person, and we have a strong group of hardworking team members who are growing and transforming Kids2 globally. Our company events are a Kids2 trademark, and we want to continue to work and play hard. That’s why we were very sorry to hear you are unhappy at Kids2 and your comments regarding the executive team and president left us with so many questions. We encourage you to talk with your manager, with HR or with any member of the executive team to help us understand more so we can improve. A few thoughts and objective data on internal promotions. While we are bringing in outside talent because we are rapidly growing, we are also promoting from within. In the last two months alone, 19 team members have been promoted or have taken on new roles to expand their skill sets. At our current size, this is noteworthy. We plan to triple our team member base over the next two years, so we expect more and more opportunities for our team. Let’s have a conversation – we do care.

Pros

Great people and talent at worker level; Casual dress code - as in no dress code at all. There's a slide?

Cons

This is a serious case of high school where superficiality and winning popularity contests are the only ways to survive in this organization. As long as you are a brown-noser to the C-suite, you won't have to do any real work and you can coast; not to mention you'll win awards and get recognized for it! Leadership (especially President and HR) judge people based on back-channel gossip and are disingenuous, unprofessional, and unethical. Executive team reacts on the CEO's mood swings and tantrums, and works off of a list of multi-dozen to-dos, which change on a daily basis. Communication of company's trajectory is deceitful since nothing ever gets executed from their 'strategic plan'. Look under the covers and you'll see the back side of the business is really suffering with systems on their last legs, a company run like a dictatorship, constant chaos and churn, and a business that is managed like a corner convenience store. This company is all smoke and mirrors.

Pros

Location to 400. Natural light in the office is a plus since you will never get outside to see daylight in person.

Cons

The CEO is an unethical person who only cares about himself and making money for himself. He is your typical Southern bro who inherited his money, never worked a real day in his life and has no real experience running a company so every decision is made on a whim and on emotion with no real strategy in place. He has no morals and will stab you in the back and get rid of good leaders who actually know how to run a company.
