Review of Asian Office

Pros

The benefits are among the best in the PB sector in Asia, salary increments and bonuses are among the best, some departments are good to be in, fast to implement projects, very over staffed for the same type of role in a bigger bank hence leading to a lot of spare capacity for staff, super good work life balance and you can leave 6pm sharp and go for 2 hour lunches, great place to cruise in for career, great to work for head office with ample opportunities for growth

Cons

Cliquish culture forming 3 cliques that comprise long time LGT versus ex ABN Amro and newer staff (long timers tend to exclude the new staff and in the process create cliques of in group versus out group), Some staff create very negative culture due to defensiveness of their projects and scope hence making learning very hard, Not very embracing or excited for change, Very backward and lagging in terms of digital strategy and systems as well as views towards Asia, Low to poor career progression with no formal promotion process, Very seniority focused, Lack diversity in Asia office, Control lies in Europe for certain functions and certain critical issues cannot be resolved for clients due to time zone issues, does not invest into Asian colleagues and very different style of people development in Group versus Asia

Pros

Decent benefits, colleagues are generally professional and approachable, flat hierarchy

Cons

No opportunity for career growth. Poor increment and stagnant pay even for junior roles. No incentive to perform well as it will never be fairly remunerated.

Pros

Medical benefits are good, work hours are reasonable.

Cons

The bank doesn’t offer hybrid/ flexible working arrangements for its APAC offices. Although Group wide policies were formally implemented in other regions, management here refused to adopt it. All employees are made to work 5 days in office. There’s no attempt at all to listen to what employees want.
