Pros

Initially a great place to work with some passionate people in the business. That ended quickly.

Cons

After 3.5 years of committed service, I was dismissed without any notice, warning, or formal process, no redundancy consultation, no performance issues, just a sudden and unexplained termination. Labelled as low performance even though I never had a performance review and my last assessment was deemed exceeding in the role. In the weeks leading up to my dismissal, there had been a wave of redundancies and exits, raising questions about transparency and the company’s treatment of long serving employees. Zero accountability or communication from senior leadership when concerns were raised. A toxic culture has been developing since Sam Schofield joined as CRO Officer and the CEO Benoit de la tour. Both have been repeatedly labelling “low performance” as unacceptable in team meetings, yet performance reviews seem to be selectively enforced by the sales managers who are all cowards. Some genuinely low performing individuals remain in the business, while others who have consistently delivered value were let go without explanation. Morale has plummeted, and trust in leadership is at an all time low. Decision making at senior level has become unclear , with little to no regard for employee wellbeing or fair process.

Pros

Option to work remotely as part of new plan.

Cons

New leadership lead by Benoit as CEO has come in and completely ripped the heart and soul out of the organisation. Pretend to care about the employees and offer "FAQ spreadsheets" to answer questions but have done nothing but create a toxic and negative environment in the entire organisation. Only interest is generating revenue for PE Marlin. An entire new leadership team has been brought in and have clearly a set agenda given to them by Marlin, build the business so it can be sold as quick as possible. Learning Pool use to be an organisation that had 3 core values, "Do the right thing", "Build to Grow", & "Got your back" but the new leadership team has completely ripped these up. New CRO in place, Sam Schofield has made a stamp instantly by terminating employees contracts with no warning or consultation. There is no support or guidance provided to any of the sales team and it's a simple case of sink or swim. In their own words "Learning Pool had a culture of accepting underperformance under previous leadership". You are now only a number at LP, they do not care one bit about you as a person, your previous experience at the org or helping you grow. The only positive I can see is that this leadership team will not be around for long, their plan is to sell this org and sail off into the sunset asap and the decisions they are making prove this as they are not following a fair or legal process with their dealings. Micromanagement is severe also!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We understand that leadership transitions can bring uncertainty, and we’re sorry that this period has left you feeling so negatively about the organisation. Our focus remains on strengthening the business for the long term while maintaining a culture where people feel valued, supported, and able to grow. Pros

The culture of Learning Pool was lived, breathed and demonstrated by everyone I worked with from the founder and CEO to placement students - tackling difficult tasks and seemingly insurmountable challenges with humour, humility and a belief in doing the right thing. It was a great place to do hard work. Customers and team were the focus - treat the team well and they will treat customers well. The sudden exit of the founders and associated senior team was the point at which things have gone south...

Cons

From the carnage apparent from a casual browse of LinkedIn or an urgent check-in with *another* former colleague who has been turfed out - possibly illegally - with little or no notice, it's clear that the new leadership are trying to remove the DNA from their new toy without an appreciation of the impact it will have on revenue, culture and the core of the business - its people. It's clear that the HR team are under pressure from having to get rid of scores of people and this leads to mistakes and people being hurt. See also: the one recent comment on Glassdoor posted by - or at least dictated by - the current CEO. These sorts of posts are often seen in companies where new leadership doesn't understand the business. Customer churn is off the scale and with the mass of key staff being shown the door, how are existing customers going to be supported?
