Disrespectful to instructors

Pros

Met a few interesting and kind students

Cons

You will never get paid 25 Euros per hour. Because of the scheduling system, you are lucky if you get 7 Euros per hour. In your contract, your starting salary will probably be 15 Euros per hour. However, most of their learners have 30 minute appointments. I had lots of days where I only had one 30 minute session per hour. After you fill out the evaluation and prepare, that's 6.50 for 45 minutes of work. On top of that, learners will cancel on a whim or forget to show up. That will be on you, not on them. You will not be respected. You are there to listen and respond. You will be treated like a robot by both learners and the management.

The new contract is dreadful

Pros

Choose your own hours There seem to be plenty of hours available The admin are friendly

Cons

The new contract is just awful. It makes you feel like just a number. If the student doesn't show up, you get 33% of the hourly rate. And they often don't show up. So, many times... I think I'm going to earn a hundred euro that day and I walk away with twenty odd. It's soul-destroying. I'd love to know if the clients only pay 33%. There's no way of knowing. We're not in touch with other teachers and if you voice a concern, you just get told that THEY are YOUR client and so you can always choose to find another client. They want you to have a degree and a teaching qualification. The platform is ultra smooth and professional... but the teachers are treated like shit. It's awful. ANd it wouldn't take much to sort it out. You're offered on-going training, you get observed... it's all very slick... but they don't think you deserve to be paid for the effort they expect you to put in. I would love to be out... but there's very little in the way of work where I live. I used to recommend this company. I would never do so now. NEVER.
