Pros

The company climate is extremely positive and supportive. Everyone is kind to the children who are tutored and also to each other. A lot of support is given to new employees to improve skills. An atmosphere of success for students and clinicians is conducive to everyone learning and feeling satisfied. The full-time employees are very dedicated to doing whatever it takes to help children learn and improve reading skills.

Cons

You have to be prepared to learn the Lindamood-Bell techniques and keep trying to improve them. At times it is overwhelming to be expected to learn so much in a short amount of time. It is very intense work, and the pay does not reflect the educational level of most employees, who have either a bachelor's or master's degree.

Pros

Positive work environment, definitely a feel good job, paid training, okay for a short term position

Cons

Very inconsistent scheduling and no communication from management about when hours will be lowered due to lack of enrollment. When I was interviewed a couple of months ago, I was told I'd be part time for spring, but that I'd still get 20 hours a week. Some weeks it has been under 10 hours with zero heads up. That's pretty darn inconsiderate! I really like buying groceries!

Pros

Staff was cordial, professional, driven. I've taught for other, similarly-marketed programs, and I would say Lindamood Bell is the best program in regards to what clients receive. We were trained thoroughly, and have a thorough peer and supervising review system to make sure the service we provide stays up to par. Pricing aside, it's definitely a service I would recommend to clients over many other programs. I thought our office manager and our center directors were wonderful and professional. Ultimately this was just a job I took on to gather experience before moving on to what I actually wanted to do, and it was an enjoyable experience and excellent stepping stone. Depending on what you hope to do in life, I wouldn't recommend this job to someone unless they are in college or a fresh graduate hoping to get valuable experience while in a transition stage in their life. There seems to be some room for upward mobility, but not with the timeliness I would expect in other fields/companies.

Cons

I was hired as a seasonal employee and stayed on with the program into the normal year, but I don't think my employment status ever changed. Once the seasonal rush was over, my hours became really inconsistent, and several employees, as well as myself, took on secondary jobs to cover. During the busy weeks I would work for 40 hours and the slow weeks I would work maybe 6-12. I consider this no fault of the administrative staff or company, just the nature of the business, though perhaps some forewarning to new employees who aren't aware of what the hours will be like during the off-season would be appreciable. I would say the pay, given the cost of living in the city, was barely passable. Ultimately it was more of a side job than a real livable source of income for me during the off season.
