      Pros

      flexibility to suggest new ideas, micro management is not common, comfortable working environment

      Cons

      there are issues with trust, a group of "leaders" call the shots with little tolerance for some one outside that group expressing a divergent perspective, very limited growth opportunities, career path very unclear and almost non existent for program officers, typical program officer tenure is quite short (around 2 years) perhaps because there are hardly any growth opportunities, performance appraisal is very subjective and a lot of it is based on how employees talk about their own achievements. the human resource function seems almost non-existent (beyond hiring not sure what they do)

      Pros

      Good salary, nice facility, decent perks, benefits and vacation, most coworkers are good people who are easy to work with.

      Cons

      If you're into showing up and doing your job vs. spending most of your time convincing others of your implied value, you will be seen as a threat and marginalized.

      Amazing place for entrepreneurial types to try to change the world.

      Pros

      Mature enough organization to be properly resourced, young enough that experimentation is still allowed. Lots of smart, driven colleagues. Unusual commitment to on the ground work overseas.

      Cons

      Heavy focus on education IT systems, with the confidence to take long term bets, even if short term indicators raise questions. If you're a true believe in tech in ed, this is not a con, but if it's not your thing, it might feel constraining.
