Do not accept their offer

Pros

Opportunity to travel (pre-COVID), having a semi-recognizable name on your resume.

Cons

You will spend so much of your adult life working. For the love of God, please do not accept a role that will defeat your spirit. Employees should not have to go in the bathroom to cry. Abuse and bullying at work is not ok. This is what will happen if you work at WebMD/Medscape. This is the worse example of corporate America. Your emotional health will suffer if you take this job. If you were looking for a sign— this is it.

Toxic and abusive corporate culture

Pros

It's a paycheck (and not a very big one) There are some very lovely employees who are a joy to work with but are beaten down every day by the Medscape process

Cons

Highest priority was making more millions and spending nothing. Every year employees forced to work more and get paid less Raises taken away but weekend work required Most managers only knew how to manage projects and were abysmal at managing people and situations Antiquated/complex process of recognizing revenue perpetuated so old-time implementers could keep their jobs Bonus and raises arbitrary regardless if revenue had been met No sense of collaboration or unity - felt very much like some departments were actually hostile towards others. Favoritism towards certain employees Overall employee moral was outrageously low and too depressing to continue to work there

Boring, Tedious, Meaningless

Pros

Editorial department has a good team

Cons

It's boring, monotonous, you learn no transferrable skills, and people all trying to push tedious work off on to others. No ownership or autonomy in work. Antiquated processes that never change unless it's creating another useless task to cover up a mistake. Incredibly inefficient processes with most people not knowing what to do because of all the piece milled tasking of even the smallest thing. A simple question can turn into 20 meetings, a wasted day of "digging", and with the real issue never being resolved. Extremely hard to get a promotion or title change because that would mean you get paid more. IF YOUR COMPANY MERGED THEY WILL KEEP YOU AT LESS THAN HIRING WAGE if your salary was less before the merge. Really bad retirement, utmost 1.5-2% yearly raise if lucky (sometimes will deny you, so you can go a whole year with no raise, even for cost of living). New hires in the past year won't receive bonuses and corporate told management to tell everyone not to say anything. So if you're new, most everyone around you is getting a bonus. No protection for hardworking employees from the people who have figured out how to manipulate corporate HR and game this inefficient system to do as little as possible. It's truly something to behold.
