Pros

The onboarding program was in depth and readily available. Great facilities in Cremorne. Dog friendly office. Many mandatory social events at work.

Cons

A toxic culture that treated staff poorly, one of the highest turnover in the short three months I was there. Active encouragement to be dishonest to our clients, including Megaphone encouraging all employees to lie about their length of employment with the company to as not to discourage clients (asked to put our LinkedIn start date 6 months earlier than what it actually was). A really unbalanced amount of workload for payment that was the lowest seen in the industry. An approach that see's them massively con small businesses out of money, knowing that they cannot offer their services to better said small businesses. Knowingly over quoting and under servicing clients every day.

Pros

Coworkers - Megaphone hires great people. Hard workers and genuinely lovely people. As with any agency experience, it is a learning opportunity.

Cons

No amount of parties or social events could outweigh the insane workload, nor the below standard pay. It is expected that you do whatever you need to do to manage the unsustainable workload. Skip your lunch break? Sure. Stay late every day? Go for it. Have a panic attack? Why not! Management has turned quite toxic. Favouritism is blatant. Hiring and promotions are often acts of nepotism. There are no opportunities to innovate and push for new ideas when you're drowning in your client workload. Hiring is always playing catch up. Promises of "your workload will ease up soon", but it never does. They talk the talk but fail to walk the walk when it comes to leadership and culture. Those in leadership roles lead with intimidation and fear rather than building real, supportive relationships. 'Mentors' are more like hawk eyes. It often feels as though they are watching and waiting to see you fail, rather than encouraging you to succeed. For a company that preaches 'solutions, not problems' they sure do approach struggling members of the team as 'problems' with no 'solutions'. The bullying culture is on the rise, and people are obviously being targeted. Clients are not vetted for suitability. The company takes on every client possible, even if it is an impossible task to make it work (shocking business models/products/owners). And when it doesn't work? It is the fault of the account manager, not the salesperson who signed them.

Pros

Lots of opportunity to learn, particularly in the first few months New office

Cons

- Workload was excessive and pay was well below industry standards. - Management were mostly disinterested / incompetent, some helped foster a culture that was bizarre and borderline cruel sometimes. Not supportive at all, especially considering the workload. - The company is going through massive growth, but no one appears to really know how to run a business. Operationally all over the place, with no real procedures. - The high turnover says it all. It was extreme and more than anywhere I’d ever worked before. - For the reasons above, morale was fairly low most of the time.
