Pros

Good benefits, good support for securities exams

Cons

This company speaks a good game and then does the polar opposite. Makes lots of acquisitions and new hires then removes people a few months later with no explanation. Senior management uses a bully tactic with communication that is not professional. They seemingly do not care about the client experience and the favoritism with office politics is among the worst I’ve experienced. Broad changes are implemented with little to no reasoning and staff is left to clean up the aftermath and still take care of clients. If client service is truly important to you, this is not a good fit. No feedback or annual reviews of COL raises. Negotiate upfront because that’s all you may get. Commission scheduled is biased and not conducive for all employees.

Pros

Executives really do take the time to get to know you and treat you with respect. That’s about it.

Cons

This wealth management firm is acquiring smaller firms at a pace it can’t keep up with. Mercer Advisors may talk a good talk to the owners of these firms they are acquiring, but it’s a mess. Many departments are constantly overworked with projects just trying to keep up. It gets exhausting. They refuse to give reasonable salary increases to their tenured employees, lay off employees from newly acquired firms to cut costs. The kicker is, they bring in new employees making a dramatically larger salary than someone who has been with the company for years.

Beware - Chaos waiting for eruption

Pros

Amazing benefits for vacation, sick and personal time. However very bad 401k for a company that manages money.

Cons

Are you looking for a promising career in technology, one that can expand your knowledge and help you grow with the team? Well if that’s what you're looking for, stay far away from this company. The whole company is in chaos mode. They decided to move everything from California to Colorado and fire all the technology staff because they didn’t want to move, then have no one to pass off institutional knowledge to the new technology staff and expect everything to run perfectly. Then fire everyone they hired to replace them. Then the CTO steps down and quits weeks later. Upper management lacks any type of vision for the future of the company and just keeps blaming problems on their lack of an adequate budget, instead of understanding the underlying problems. They are hiring supervisors that don’t know anything about technology and believing that because the supervisors know how to “manage” it'll be okay. Guess what, just because someone kind of knows how to manage does not mean they know how to manage the IT "team" which oversees the whole network infrastructure. (Teamwork and collaboration between coworkers is actively discouraged.) I’m shocked that this company has made it this far and people still invest their money into this company. Upper management has no idea how to run the company and it's all smoke screens. Sooner or later this company will fail, whether by management failure or their infrastructure being compromised, and everyone will lose. I would stay far away from this company and go look elsewhere for investment needs and career growth. There are so many better options for both elsewhere!
