Training opportunities are either broadly generalized and objectively do nothing to enhance knowledge or skill set in "context of your specific role" with the company, or specific to the sales dept. Some training opportunities you have to receive a management recommendation for. There aren't any extra curricular training courses for warehouse staff, unless you are promoted or get a new job.
While the full service Dr's office provides many services to employees free of charge, it has its limitations. The medical staff their can't give you and X-ray or an MRI, they also do not provide OBGYN services, among a plethora of other things. Hours are not always convenient depending on what you need.
High deductible health insurance policies will only be available to you, making anything you may need outside the on site clinics limits VERY expensive. If you have a chronic illness that requires regular medical attention beyond on sight limits, you will not be able to afford the contributions you will have to make to your HSA with the company match, especially if you're warehouse staff.
Your sick days, and vacation come out of your PTO. You do not have separate sick leave or vacation time.
Raises are rounded down to nearest whole percentage. I got a 3.7 one year on my merit based raise, some time after my evaluation, in my letter from HR regarding my pay increase, instead of giving me the 3.7 that I earned it was rounded down to 3%. So my raise was 3% not 3.7%.
Sales driven mind set, wear house work week was once changed because of theoretical projected sales. This was around the time when it became legal in the State of Indiana to sell alcohol on Sunday. It was later changed back but, you will be expected to jump on board short sighted decisions, with no apology.
Orders from Sales dept are often taken late, increasing work load in the warehouse.
2nd and 3rd shift Warehouse staff "only" get Thanks Giving and Christmas off.
Warehouse staff always work on the Sunday of the week prior to a major holiday.
Weeks of Major Holidays or other big events such as the Indy 500 are highlighted by black out dates. Which means you can't use any PTO to take time off. If you've exhausted your 5 days grace, other than a death in you immediate family, any time you attempt to take off is an occurrence. You also can not plan to take time off years in advance because of this.
Company Principals do not have the integrity they stand for. On a per case basis, contrary to what enthusiastic senior managers and employee relations personnel believe. If they did I would still working for Monarch beverage.
In my experience the company didn't care that I had already earned my College Degree, it was objectively meaningless. If you take a job here to "get a foot in the door" hoping to get the job you really want when a vacancy opens later, don't hold your breathe. Any professional diplomacy on your part to work with the individuals you can help you will truly be in vain, they will go out of their way to make any politically correct excuse they can to dismiss you. And no one will understand why they can't/won't help you.
Specific work assignments rotate in the Warehouse. YOU WILL NOT only sit and drive a fork lift, load, unload trucks for the whole shift. Especially if you work on 2nd or 3rd shift.
The work 2nd and 3rd shift do is tough, and the turn over rate is high. Around the time I resigned less than 10% of the Staff working for 3rd shift had been employees with the company for longer than 6 months. You have to be tough to work here, I would walk on average 18 miles each day during the week. All along the way you are going up and down two to three flights of stairs, kneeling down, and reaching constantly. You also may have to lift considerably more weight than what the job requirement specifies with no help from anyone if your assignment is to pick kegs of beer, the heaviest can weight between 150lbs to 170lbs depending on the beer.
