Young, enjoyable and meaningful workplace
Pros
Able to be involved in very challenging projects, some of which are large scale. Due to the global nature of the company, there are chances to work on overseas projects. Due to large nature of projects, deliverables often require inter-disciplinary coordination and Motts organisation is well positioned for such work. Staff are generally on the younger age group with seniors making up upper management. This results in a more vibrant office culture and a good mix of social and recreational activities open for anyone to participate. People are generally very good natured and helpful. Able to leave work at 5.30 without question if workload can be managed.
Cons
Lower annual remuneration compared to the job market average. Lack of structured training, often requiring staff to learn in their personal time after work hours. The over-dependence on time sheet in managing budgets, coupled with a tight project budget, give rise to poor quality work produced under impossible time lines. High turnover rate. Employee owned company often mentioned as an advantage to the company, however a good majority of the staff (under 12 years in the company) do not stand to have any monetary stake in the company.
