Good job security and low stress. Overall bad team members. A few brains get the job done.

Pros
Job Security is the biggest thing. Once in, it is basically impossible to get fired. You must do something hugely and stupidly wrong. Even in hard economic times, the government still has money. Lots of training is available. Easy and low stress, even in a tech industry. There are a few really smart brains in the company that get all the work done.
Cons
Team members are often very complacent and against doing work. Managers basically can't or won't fire people because it's too much paperwork and will reflect badly on themselves. Team members' tech education is from many years ago. Even the IT personnel have difficulty with basic computer skills such as cut & paste, and basic file management. If you can do the work, you'll be given everybody else's to do also. NMCI
