Great people, toxic culture

Pros

Amazing Company retreats. 100% remote work. Good compensation.

Cons

Toxic work culture, poor work/life balance, you are expected to dedicate your entire self to the company. Getting anything from HR is like pulling teeth, you will not get work laptop/screens unless you fight for it. Unlimited time off? Nope! Just on paper. This company functions like a sweat shop but with the marketing of a progressive company. The CEO regularly micromanages engineers, jumps in to write, edit low level code daily.

Pros

Relax work culture Benefits are good

Cons

Leadership is completely clueless technology side. Systems are decades old. nothing new to learn. Hiring people with more experience in lower roles. Higher employee churn rate. Career ladder- some fantasy island that they have created for every engineers. According to leadership it was abandoned last year but managers are still following. Practically forcing employees to quit because logically you will never qualify on paper for next role without favoritism. For most employees, nytimes is stop over place for next job.
