Pros

- Inspiring founding story and history, producing great products and championing sustainable initiatives. - Passionate and positive team members who genuinely care.

Cons

- No approved marketing strategy to adhere to, resulting in the team scrambling each day with unplanned pivots and chaotic execution. - Marketing executive leadership has created a toxic environment of manipulation, gaslighting, bullying and favouritism. - Team feels frustrated, demoralized and burnt out from the bullying tactics, excessive miscommunications, and irrational behaviours. - Team is told they have the autonomy to develop strategy and make decisions, but then have their work changed or reassigned, without their knowledge. - Extremely high turnover rate (almost 50%) in the marketing department in 2020, even during the Covid pandemic. This is not a growing team, so don’t be fooled that they are expanding - it is purely to fill the vacant positions. - Long working hours to execute an unreasonable and constantly changing list of priorities. - Culture is heavily reliant on meetings - on average, 4-6 hrs of meetings every day.

I appreciate you sharing your perspective about your experience on the Marketing team. Although it seems you did not have the most positive overall experience, I'm so glad that you were proud of our history, products, and people. You're right in that we have received some consistent feedback out of the Marketing department with similar themes. I want to assure you that we read and record every comment, and take each one very seriously. We are currently working closely with key members of the leadership team to investigate and address many of the complaints cited here. I hope that in the coming months we will see significant improvements and that everyone on the marketing team feels positive about their work and contributions. If there's anything else you believe I should know, please reach out to me at jbains@naturespath.com. Thank you once again.

Pros

- Good products - Talented employees - Sustainability initiatives

Cons

- Marketing lacks coherent brand strategy, metrics & process. Generally, no one knows what’s going on - Leadership is easily distracted by shiny new ideas and lacks respect for work that has already been done - Marketing leadership is inexperienced, their practices and ideas are outdated, and they don’t know what to do with their talented team - Psychologically unsafe and stressful environment with bullying, passive aggression, politics, gossip, back-channel communication, and a lack of boundaries - Leadership is dictatorial, and rules with dysfunctional, erratic, and abusive behaviour, leaving team to feel powerless and at fault - Team members are demoralized, burnt out, confused and suffer from anxiety; those who ask for help are ignored - Many team members don’t have job descriptions and/or are forced to work out of scope with increasing responsibilities - “Pulse-check surveys” create the illusion that action is being taken, but there hasn’t been any relevant action or change - Speaking up or taking action seems to have consequences. Many have either been removed, muscled out or bullied for seeking clarity and change  - People & Culture can’t do very much but listen

Thank you for your honest and thoughtful feedback. I can tell how much you care about your former team members and keeping the company accountable to our values. Much of your feedback echoes the comments from others on Glassdoor, and I assure you that we're listening. As a family-owned company, certain strategic decisions are made at the ownership level, but if you are willing I would appreciate hearing more about the "psychologically unsafe work environment" you mention as well as any cases of bullying. This is not something we stand for, and as you said - we must have zero tolerance on. You can contact me directly at jbains@naturespath.com. Thanks again.

Pros

- Amazing and talented people. - Variety of projects. Keeps things interesting. - Great products and philosophy.

Cons

- Zero leadership, has been the worst experience I've had with Marketing executive leadership. - Toxic environment. The team feels demoralized, frustrated and burnt out as a result of the bullying and gaslighting coming from Marketing executive leadership. - No work/life balance. Be prepared to set firm boundaries from the beginning, otherwise you will be working until very late in the evening or even on weekends. - High personnel turnover, they take months to fill vacant positions, meanwhile you are expected to pick up their workload on top of your own, and still keep up with your deadlines. - Your professional advice will not be heard and your work will have no value if it's not "in line" with what Marketing executive leadership wants, even if the entire team disagrees. - No brand strategy. Resulting in zero brand consistency, last-minute project changes, moving targets and goals, no set priorities. - "Everything is awesome" on the outside, but no real solutions to internal problems.

I appreciate your candor and for taking the time to write such a thorough review. I'm glad that in your time at Nature's Path you recognized how amazing the team is. We're so proud to be able to attract such talented and driven people. It is our hope and intention to empower our team members to do their best work and for management to support them in their roles. I'm sorry to hear that this does not sound like it was your experience, and that you felt hindered by leadership. I know that the marketing team has faced some challenges with burnout during a busy period of growth and transition. In response we have implemented monthly pulse check questionnaires for the marketing team and follow up on specific feedback we receive, implementing solutions as quickly as possible. In addition, we are actively recruiting to fill open roles. Overall, I take your feedback to heart and will pass it along to the appropriate people within the organization. I thank you again and wish you luck to you in your career ahead.
