Pros

Nemak has good health benefits at a reasonable cost to the employee. The company does do a decent job at the annual company picnic. Had to come up with something because there is a twenty word minimum.

Cons

. I know this should go without saying, but all of the comments in this review are my opinion and are based on my experiences from long term employment with this company. . Very corrosive and adversarial culture fostered from the tops site management with nothing apparent being done by Corporate Management. I believe this is because the WI site has been meeting and/or exceeding our profitability goals for the past several years . Very low morale . Several times I was aware of myself or others would be treated badly and when brought to managements attention the response was to deal with it and let it go and not to stir the pot. Overall there was a lack of accountability . A lot of siloization between departments and even between the same departments at the different plants. As well as siloization within departments. In some areas this behavior was even fostered . High employee turnover, both salaried and hourly . Many times upper management would not follow through on what they said they were going to do . There is way to much favoritism and politics . Very little time for skills training because in a lot of areas there were not enough personnel to allow for this . Too much overtime with no light at the end of the tunnel . Not enough personnel in some departments to do much more than firefight issues . Poor communication within the plants in Wisconsin as well as from Corporate Headquarters . Insufficient funding to launch new programs and told to make due with the funding we were given. . In a lot of cases there was no opportunity for career path planning because there just wasn’t any opportunities

Pros

Non-management people are great to work with, cooperative, and supportive to success.

Cons

Management is very hostile, threatening, barbaric, uneducated, arrogant, and demoralizing. There is little to no real training, yet you are expected to perform as if you have been thoroughly trained and have years of experience with the company. The company is also way too top heavy with layers of management. When you work for this company, it is expected that you will sell your life to them and are expected to be on call 24/7. The company does not value its employees, their families, or the community. It's all take and no give by the company.

Pros

Great benefits that are leading in the area. 401(k) match was standard 3%. Work/life balance was good, occasionally had to stay late but that's expected with engineering jobs working in projects. There is flexibility in your work day, so if you need to have an appointment during the work day or needed to tend to family matters you could do so as long as it is not interfering with your work. The salary seemed on par for the area. Vacation was great, 20 days starting but do not get an increase until 20 years of service. The people were all pretty good to work with, but there are some exceptions.

Cons

The biggest complaint among people is the work environment. Die Cast is a hot and dirty environment, but as an engineer you won't be doing much work that requires you to get very dirty. Advancing your career is difficult to do there. People do get promotions but it seems HR only gives promotions when they feel like it. I worked there multiple years and was apart of multiple new programs, but no promotion. Meanwhile someone who hires in close to the same time I did with the same amount of experience was promoted after 1 year.
