101 how to not treat staff

Pros

Australia’s most trusted newspapers and people are proud to work for them

Cons

Email sent by ceo on Friday to say there will be redundancies, no meeting held by anyone who is making the decisions until Monday despite being asked they refused . People with kids, mortgages etc left all weekend . There is a way to treat people who give way more of themselves to their job than is normal and this isn’t it. They talk about mental health and this is causing untold anguish and on a human level is cruel. This wasn’t a snap decision. Trust is absolutely gone. When doing financial modelling you plan for every eventuality including the fact the FB money was unlikely to be renewed, why do excessive Christmas parties at Luna park ? Also on leaderships watch there has been a horrific culture in TV . Leadership is absolutely flawed.

Pros

Creative and energetic team. Fun environment,

Cons

The leaders in the People&Culture team are bullies. Very low levels of psychological safety here.
