Pros

My Coworkers were cool to work with

Cons

All a numbers game, most of the people coming in as "Talent" don't even know why they're even there. No work life balance. $7.25 base pay VS commission. TRUST me you'll be seeing a lot more base pay then commission, most of the people they invite in are unemployed and look nothing like the entertainment industry. After you take their money you just send them about they're merry way . EXTREMELY HIGH Turn Overate, In just one month of being there the team change at least 3 times between my peers, management, and receptionist.

Hi and thanks for the feedback. It's always disappointing to see a former employee disliked their experience at our company and we're sorry to hear this was the case for you. We've been taking the time to sit down with every employee since you left your review, and based on their performance, we've been happy to improve their pay. At Nine9 we believe that everyone deserves a chance to get into the industry and despite how they may look or their level of experience, we do want them to get their shot. We not in the business of scamming anyone. If there is something I can clear up that would help to explain our company in detail, we're very transparent about how Nine9 operates. Please email me at jeremy.smith@nine9 if you have any additional thoughts you feel our team needs to hear and I will make sure they make it across our CEO's desk. We hope you have found a more fitting career path and wish you well in all you do!

Hello, It looks like it's been almost a year since your review and we're sorry to see you had such a negative experience. We never want to hear an employee didn't enjoy working for us for any reason but it does sound like you had a few perceptions about our company that we've been able to change with 100% certainty. We're very happy to say that we've made some improvements to our benefits company-wide and feel that our customer service team is exceptional. As with most reviews, the term 'scam' seems to be used when someone is unhappy with our company. While we can understand that knowledge about our unique organization may have been lacking in the past, we would never scam someone. Our company has been doing business with aspiring talent for over 15 years now. We continuously strive to make sure that every perspective talent who contacts us and walks through our doors realizes that our purpose and passion is to help fulfill their dreams. It's true that we're willing to work with everyone because Nine9 wants to prove that the 99% of talented people have a place in this industry. All too often we hear about agencies turning people away because they 'didn't have the right look.' Unfortunately, it seems we didn't share this view about the industry in its current state but we can respect your opinion. We don't want to be seen as an agency and I've been diligent in sharing information about our company to explain that we are very much a different organization. I've also been very diligent online to inform our potential talent about the cost of our service and what it entails. As we move forward this year, we'll be sure to continue with this trend and share as much knowledge about Nine9 as possible. We understand the job may have been very demanding as you worked in a busy market and we apologize if you felt overworked at times. We do hope you found a more fitting career path and that you're finding great success. Our door remains open and additional feedback is always welcome so we can become the best employer this industry has ever seen. Please share anything else that comes to mind with me at jeremy.smith@nine9.com and I will make sure it makes it to our CEO. All of us here at nine9 wish you the very best!

Pros

Absolutely no pros whatsoever. This place is nothing but a big scam. Be sure to read reviews of the companies former name One Source Talent.

Cons

This is a pyramid scheme sales job, plain and simple. They hire people in at different titles but the job is 100% the same for everyone, the only difference is whether you will be selling in person or over the phone. Literally every employee will be meeting with or calling clients who believe they are meeting with a talent coordinator for modeling and acting opportunities. This is 100% false. There are no actual modeling or acting opportunities provided, but we were forced to show clients some fancy website that made it seem as if there were. They trained us to act like we only accepted the best of the best and that there was some type of approval process to work with the company. The truth is, literally every single person will be accepted, as long as they have the $249 and $39.95 required to sign up. After you pay, they bring you back within 1-2 weeks for another appointment where their main goal is to sell you some lame, over priced photo shoot. Be sure to look them up as their former name of One Source Talent. There were so many issues and bad claims that they actually had to change their name, close down office locations and re-open under the new name of nine9. Also be sure to google the article from the New York Times regarding one source talent/Nine9.

Hi and thanks for taking the time to share how you felt about your time with us. We're disappointed to hear that a former employee had a negative view about who we are and what we do as a company. Your review was written a couple years ago, but I'd like to apologize that no one has responded to you until now. It does seem based on what you've written here that we could have been more diligent in training you across all departments within our corporate office. Since 2016, we've improved our training immensely and we do feel that you would have seen we have hundreds of opportunities for our talent every week in both modeling and acting. We will admit that we may have let you down in this regard but can assure you or anyone reading this review that we're booking talent for roles every single week. We're happy to link to our success stories which can be found here https://nine9.com/success-stories and these are just a handful of the people who took the time to share their experience. We've never hidden the fact that we charge an enrollment fee because we aren't an agency but a talent service geared towards entertainment and marketing. We're upfront about this in every response here online and have worked to be transparent every step of the way with the talent we work with. Our passion lies in truly helping people to find their place in this industry and we're sorry to see that passion was not shared during your employment here. We're much more willing to work with new talent than agencies because as you likely know, agencies only sign 1% of the talent that apply to them. We feel everyone deserves their shot to build their skills, work on their craft, and find success. I'd also like to point out that even at the time of your review, working with a professional photographer has always been entirely up to the talent. We're able to work with these photographers to get discounted rates for our talent but they always have the choice to take their own photos, use the headshots we take at the office, or choose a photographer of their own. Changing a company name after 15 years in business isn't uncommon. We felt Nine9 better represented our business and our mission which is why we made that choice. Any perception of this branding strategy outside of this is simply incorrect. We want all of our employees to feel that Nine9 was the best employer they've ever worked for. We can respect that you had opinions about our business and are very sorry that things didn't work out. All of us here at Nine9 do hope you found a career that is better suited to you and we wish you only the greatest success.
