Pros

- Fancy coffee machines -Nice offices - for the most part, left to get on with things

Cons

The company are not interested in any kind of negative feedback, staff turnover is high, some departments have lost nearly all of their staff, and management doesn't seem bothered at all. Solutions that are implemented for customers do not work correctly, and feedback is ignored both during and then after implementation. You will be constantly spammed by Yammer updates about Node4 winning "Great place to work awards" or results of the "Wellbeing survey" where negative feedback is ignored completely or briefly glossed over, or have to attend the same ESSAS training for the 3rd time. The MD of the company says they've seen the glassdoor reviews but "doesn't put much stock in them" which is an interesting choice considering its unfiltered feedback about Node4. Overall Node4 has the vibe of a company pretending they have a culture you see in US-based companies like Google where everybody loves it with an almost cult-like passion but in reality, it's got more of a sinking ship feel to it.

A Disappointing Experience

Pros

When I first joined Node4, I was full of enthusiasm and high hopes. However, after a year of working there, I can't help but feel let down and disheartened by my experience. The stark contrast between the promises made during the hiring process and the reality of working here has left me deeply unsatisfied.

Cons

One of the most significant letdowns has been the company's failure to live up to its promises regarding compensation. During the recruitment process, we were told that Node4 offered competitive salaries in the industry. However, after a year on the job, it's clear that this couldn't be further from the truth. My compensation falls significantly below industry standards, making it challenging to make ends meet and causing constant financial stress. Moreover, the level of micromanagement within the organization is suffocating. It's demoralizing to have every aspect of your work scrutinized to such an extent that it hinders productivity and creativity. The lack of trust in employees to perform their tasks without constant oversight is disheartening. One of the most glaring issues is the disconnect between HR, upper management, and the actual employees. HR seems more focused on paper-pushing than addressing the concerns and needs of the workforce. Similarly, the top-level management appears detached from the everyday challenges and struggles faced by employees on the ground. This disconnect results in ineffective communication, making it feel like the concerns of the workforce go unheard.

Pros

Free tea and coffee. The odd free banana. Good location in Nottingham centre-easy to run away from to the pub at the end of the day!

Cons

The culture at Node4 has become toxic and unworkable. People are promoted based on quantities and qualifications unknown, leading to over promoted people trying to strategise when they can barely tie their shoes! Hard work is not rewarded, neither is loyalty and promises are made that are not kept. Without naming the position and therefore the person, there is a particular manager who has become a C*O and rules with a 'fear and sneer' approach, treating his subordinates with complete contempt and making veiled threats about their future with the company if his own priorities are not yours. It's awful to see, particularly how he can treat younger, female staff members. This has been raised but ignored.
