Pros
Fellow employees, work pace, freedom to take on responsibility
Cons
Pay & benefits (unless you're a President or on the board of directors). Three weeks ago, our president receives 1,949 shares of stock for free (worth over $150k) as a bonus for doing a good job. Two weeks ago he cashes in $49k worth of stock, and one week ago cashes in another $17k worth of stock. Today there is an SEC announcement about the upcoming board of directors meeting. There are over 13 pages dedicated to the compensation changes for our executive officers (of which our president is one). Of course, their salaries and bonuses are doing nothing but going up. Meanwhile, when accounting for inflation and cost of living, I am making no more than when I started here. That's just looking at the salary. When you account for my insurance going up every year, I'm losing ground. The company is doing well as evidenced by the stock price and the bonuses and stock options awarded to the executives. Are the people doing the work seeing any of this? Then, to top it off, today we receive a memo about how the merit cycle will be delayed 3 months. Of course, that's if we get one at all ('subject to business and economic conditions').
