Less room for progression. Especially for degree holder.

Where do I start? I echo most (if not all) of the reviews here. I was hired right out of college and took a very low wage with the promise of increases and benefits to come (which never came after 5 years). Favoritism is rampant here. If you are not "part of the group" of your supervisor... you will never move anywhere. If you bring to the attention of your supervisor a violation ... YOU are the one that is written up. If you "do the right thing" and follow policy (and not what secretive wish of management is) YOU are the one that will take the fall. Show up late? Take 2 hour lunches? Leave early? Sit and read the dictionary (yes a real thing)? Sit and watch other people clean up your catastrophic messes? All perfectly fine here with no ramifications if you are in your manager's good favors. After 5 years there, and inventing many products that made (literally) millions of dollars I was noticed by another company. I was recruited and they made an offer that gave me 200% the pay, better benefits, stock options, room for advancement, and many more perks, and thus I resigned. That's when all hell broke loose! Instead of attempting to retain an employee that made the company millions, they unleashed a barrage of fear-based actions.... no offer to keep me ("can we make you an offer to stay" is not an offer. Come to me with a number.... not a question), confiscated all my lab books, blocked all computer logins, all current projects halted, not allowed to be alone (always in a room "with someone")... One by one, upper management called me into their office to attempt to shame, intimidate, and scare me into staying. When none of this seemed to work for them (all these things over the course of 3 days mind you) they simply gave me my final check and sent me home. It did not stop there! I came home to legal papers (one from FedEx, one from personal carrier, and one from USPS) threatening to sue for going to another company and working in the same field. I know what a "non-disclosure agreement" is and I will always be professional, something they failed to notice. This was executed out of fear, greed, and inability to lead effectively. This company does not offer any security, does not deliver on its promises, offers piddly amounts for compensations, and has shown time and time again that you as an employee are 100% expendable and are there to make the coffers of upper management bigger. Ever wonder why the average employee is either there for < 5 years or >15? (Hint, people either wise up or settle.) I've been out of that abusive relationship for many years now. Without a doubt, one of the best decisions in my life. Get out while you can!
