Pros

The company offers an opportunity to work in culturally diverse team. The are offices in various parts of the world and depending on your role you will likely have the opportunity to collaborate with the other offices. Depending on travel restrictions company offers a week training in the headquarters office in NL where you can meet others from all offices. If you have a desire to be a part of the team that makes an impact you can easily get involved in special project initiatives that impact the business and allow you to collaborate with those in HQ Performance review process is clear and allows you to voice your feedback in a structured way. If you enjoy talking to people and building relationships as you go this was a great environment to do so. The local office overlooks a great view of the city.

Cons

HQ management is disconnected from local office so if there was a concern in the workplace often it was not resolved and HR (I’m HQ) did not take active role in addressing concerns. Company notorious for employee burnout due to lack of work life balance. Local office had issues with toxic work environment as result of lack of resolution/action to a repeating offender that created a hostile work environment. (HR very hands off approach) Growth & professional development is mostly represented by taking on additional tasks in addition to your current work load. A stipend was offered in place of medical insurance (usually not enough to cover a 3rd party plan if you have a family). New hires can be overwhelmed by the amount of information and tasks involved in a workday. Difficult to adequately train (you either sink or swim). It felt like company wanted to change for the better and fix the major issues employees expressed but often made decisions that did not align with fair long term solutions.

Pros

- international environment - culturally diverse teams - young company - start up - flat hierarchy - fast growth and dynamic - free lunches - space for own development in one role

Cons

- high employee turnover in some departments - increased cases of employee burnout (because there is a lack of work life balance) - Gender bias - low agility (1 person drops out due to sickness or due to leaving, the remaining co-workers are alerted 2 -3 weeks too late to transfer the work) - bad conflict resolutions (internally) i.e. complaints to higher ups and management regarding hostile cooperation between two internal parties and about foul languages being used gets dismissed. Considered as ''cultural difference'', ''needing a tough skin in this business'', ''needing to forget about this complaint and to proceed a.s.a.p. with the task at hand together as the other party brought in a lot of money''. - low HR involment - lack of managerial skills (reaching the 'Peter Principle'); i.e. no clear guidance in development , do not maintain promises, reluctant to approve leave days until repeated reminders or discusissons, encourage overhours, discourage 'leaving on time (8h)', low trust, tolerant to or/and do not discourage cross-departmental disputes in open office environment etc. - internal culture and bad atmosphere (tolerant attitude towards yelling and hostility across departments) - minimal career development; no growth beyond your existing role. Possibility to add additional tasks or join a project group to your already existing tasks. - negative attitude towards remote work depending on departments; tendency to reduce or revoke rights to remote days in departments when it deems fit - Start up company with old-fashioned management approach - high tendency to ignore employees' feedback regarding work culture and in reviews
