1) At entry level positions, the pay is much lower than what would normally be expected if you looked at most salary survey resources. This starts to be remedied as someone gets promoted, but the expectations and requirements for promotion are unclear for many of the positions. Management also tends to be reactive when it comes to this, as in they won't act in a meaningful way unless you are about to leave the company.
2) Though there are a few managers that really know what they are doing, they are the exception and not the rule. Many of the managers are not formally trained, and it shows in how projects are assigned, employees are evaluated, and conduct is policed. There is no stability or consistency. TLDR: Favorites can get away with anything.
3) Most of the company is thinking about retirement in the next 10 to 15 years. The future is uncertain.
