Pros

There was a book and gym reimbursement, and at one point the people at Pantheon were incredible.

Cons

I believe it's important to be transparent that the company has laid off almost 40% of their employees since December 2022, on top of a high turnover rate with remaining employees. Pantheon is an almost 14 year old company who still describes themselves as a startup, which should give you some insight into the lack of leadership and overall poor company culture that can be found there. The co-founders may be passionate about what they do, but lack the skills to successfully run a business and will ultimately be the reason Pantheon fails as a company. They are unable to take their egos out of the equation and seem unaware (or at least unwilling to accept) that they are a major part of the problem. Combine that with their sad attempts to own the term WebOps and inability to sell their products or provide any innovation in the space, and you can see why their goal for the next year is to “try to break even by June”. VPs and C-Suite Executives repeatedly said they “don’t believe the data” when presented with poor numbers and performance metrics, which is why they are in the current situation they are in. Leadership values their friend’s opinions over data, but also refuses to hold their friends accountable to any metrics or goals so if you aren’t in their weird circle you are set up for incredible stress and failure. There is little to no onboarding processes in place for new employees and almost no diversity within the organization. You can guarantee that you’ll encounter incredibly toxic leadership and stressful working conditions should you work here.

Thanks for taking the time to write your review; it was hard to read. The thing is, we are pumped about our future so your message gave us pause. So, we took another look at our business and culture. We’ve all experienced the entire tech industry slowdown from the ultra-rapid and unsustainable pandemic growth rates. This is evident across the entire industry, including Pantheon and yeah, it’s been painful. Here’s why we are pumped, we’re continuing to grow at rates that are consistent with major tech companies and are cash flow positive. Shifting from start-up to operating at scale is our focus; this comes with the growing pains of scaling up. You felt it, so did we. But here’s the thing about Pantheon, as you stated–our colleagues, co-workers, customers and partners – are passionate and brilliant. Pantheors are our “secret sauce” and we’ve been fortunate to have some super seasoned people join our super smart team across the company. As we go from startup to scaleup, it’s an exciting time to make a mark and a career-defining experience at Pantheon.

Pros

Lots of smart people, ambitious open-source evangelists! love it

Cons

No protection if something happens to you. They will make you sign a contract to not review them and you will be silently forced out. HR is absolutely atrocious and should be ashamed.

Pros

-Solid support for remote work -Open source evangelists -Incredibly talented colleagues

Cons

Leadership LARPS as leftists to cover for their rapacious business practices. They continue to host legitimate hate groups while pretending to champion leftist ideals. Wouldn’t be as gross if Rosen and Koenig weren’t so outspoken in their political disposition. Rings hollow and vacuous at this point. Unclear roadmap and future vision from executive leadership team - who was pushing to IPO at all costs (this was pre-interest rate hike). Back when this was still a possible strategy, the executive leadership team was trying to grow rapidly at all costs to impress investors and botched the rollout of important features like Autopilot. Limited future expansion and ability to scale - without adding significant upgrades or overhauling the platform. Currently lack a clear vision for the company - without articulating things in vague, idealist language around “open source.” Their leading uptime and ability to scale seamlessly are now table stakes, compared to 10 years ago. They have been bested by the competition - like Contentful - which is more user-friendly. Additionally, Drupal is dying as a CMS (especially if you want to expand your audience), outside of some niche enterprise and educational applications. Many talented, empathetic employees left after internal disputes over content moderation, leaving toxic overachievers and mindless sycophants in control.
