Pros

- Awesome and laid-back field team to work with - good benefits

Cons

- All you will do is work and travel. Lots of project engineers are looking for other jobs as am I, stay away unless you like working 60-80 hour weeks. Ask the appropriate and important questions in the job interview phase. - Little recognition or appreciation from management - a few incompetent project managers, but most of them are pretty good. - Work is not very engineering related, mostly technical work and hardware - Sometimes a day notice to travel out of state - No time for extra curricular activities, hobbies, and little time for friends - No incentive to perform well, very small raises IF ANY - The majority of "local" work consists of traveling an hour to and from the worksite depending on which plant you are going to

Pros

Good work atmosphere and nice people when you are actually in the office, but this rarely happens.

Cons

It is a very cliquey atmosphere in the department. Managers/Project Engineers pick favorites and if you are not in well with them, you feel disconnected and there is little chance of succeeding in the future. Secondly, the work you do for the actual job, isn’t engineering work. A recent high school grad would have no trouble performing the tasks in this job. Thirdly, your work schedule constantly changes on a day to day basis. You could find out you need to travel out of state for work less than 24 hours of departure time. This makes it impossible to plan things outside of work and leaves for little work-life balance.
