Pros

Was a great place to work. Sense of community

Cons

It was merged into VCA. It was nice being an unbranded corporate hospital.

Pros

Unfortunately, if you're a manager that believes in creating a workplace where fairness, integrity and respect bring out the best in employees you'll want to avoid this company.

Cons

Corporate is chaotic-always meeting to discuss issues but providing no real resolution. For an "experienced" company in practice acquisition the NY team was inept at many key transition elements like 401K and payroll, website transitioning and standing behind difficult decisions to eliminate excessive payroll though they clearly wanted to see reduction. The team seemed more concerned with how they would be perceived in their job than actually implementing the MARS pillars in the culture by standing for smart business and supporting culture that was universally fair. Example- rubber stamping large raises for underachievers while hard working employees were capped at 3% (which for the lowest paid and hardest working employees amounted to peanut shells -not even peanuts. In their "open communication" policy they set up conflict within the hospital as they never investigated the validity of disgruntled employee complaints and promised but did not deliver on support for existing managers making difficult decisions. Unprofessional HR-self serving leadership (more interested in cocktail hour than offering support in challenging circumstances.)
