Pros

Pros, stayed up all night and cant think of any!

Cons

After meeting a few of the past employees over the weekend, we had a good chat about the cons with this employer, if we were to list them here - it would take all year. The best advice is to remain on the dole or go into full/part time education, at least you will have a social welfare payment every week. My past colleague who worked pre 2013 who is still in touch with the few left on the old contracts and cannot believe the new terms being offered, when its not even minimum wage - it easy to see why so many people leave. We also found out the "big new idea" phonewatch will now employ more firms to recruit even more staff to keep up with the amount of new starters leaving each week, beware you must be the RIGHT person, this translated means, you have been taken in by the spin and fiction, so hope this review helps some of you make the "RIGHT" choice about looking for alternative employment with a firm that has good working relationships and working conditions and pay with its staff.

Pros

Good local manager who puts in a lot of effort into training. Strong brand, so people aren't giving out too much on the doors.

Cons

Realistically you won't sell more than 2 alarms per week, and more likely you will sell 1 or none. ask the company for the average sales per rep over the whole country, and you will find it is between 3 and 4 per month. that means you will earn between €450 and €1000 working 5-6 days per week, 8-9 hours per day. That works out at between €2.50 and €5.60 per hour, which is very poor given how hard you work. despite your contract explicitly saying that you cannot cold call after 8.30pm, and you cannot work Sundays, your manager will have you cold calling until 9.00pm (and expect to get abuse from mothers who have just gotten their kids to bed), and you will be pressed to work Sundays. My advice - if you can find no other job to do, take the training for 2-3 weeks, and go get a job with Eir, Imagine or Vodafone who pay a basic and a small amount of commission. they will snap you up.Lots of reps do it, as the training in some offices is quite good. If you get a poor office manager, obviously you'll get poorer training. I know a rep who spend 3 weeks with Phonewatch, and couldn't get one sale on his own, but immediately he started with Imagine, he is making around €20,000 per year, hits his targets for commission, and gets a company van. I spend 2 months with Phonewatch, made just 2 sales on my own (my manager gave me a few sales we made while training, but in total I still had only 5 sales over the 2 months, total earnings = €750, and I took just 2 days off over the two months). I got a job with Eir, company van, and I'm flying it.

Pros

Some of the lads that work there are nice but thats the only good thing, managers are all lazy and constantly lie to get you to work longer, you are expected to work Saturdays and if you don't they threaten to fire you! 100% commission No one makes any money everyone in the office is always broke even the manager.

Cons

Door to door sales Long days and late nights - usually home about 11PM! No social life at all 100% commission if you get paid at all No one makes any money Even if you do sales they try to say they cancelled and don't pay you Treated like an employee but you are self employed so get screwed when it comes to minimum wage. Managers are lazy idiots either can't be bothered to do their job or have more idea what their job is. Regional Managers are even bigger idiots, talk like they know everything but actually do nothing. You sell a crap system for stupid money, expecting people to pay almost €1000 for it in the first year.
