Pros

Fun product to work with, if you are passionate about games. You get to know about many mobile games before they release and you can meet some interesting people. Working for Playtestcloud can help building some initial knowledge on the mobile gaming industry for your next job. As remote user testing is a niche industry, there are not too many aggressive competitors in the market which can make it a bit easier.

Cons

Don't be fooled by the number of employees or reviews, Playtestcloud is a team of 10-15 people. If you see any testers working for Playtestcloud they are actually not employed via them (anybody can download the playtestcloud app and become a tester but his doesn't mean you are hired, it's just a side gig you can apply for) . This is what fooled me and made me think that the company was much bigger than it is and was said nothing about this from management, despite I directly asked them. The company has been in the industry for many years, however acts like a startup ( I would say it still is a startup despite management says otherwise) employees have to cover for differet roles and not only the one they applied to. Even if the company is German, there is a strong American working culture where the "client (or management) is always right". Micromanaging is something normal within the company and makes things incredibly stressful. Many team meetings used to happen during the week and some of them looked a bit useless if not toxic.. I remember we used to have this "biweekly" call in which every employee had to list the good and bad happening in the company, however people got afriad to speak up about any issues as management used to react badly about it. So the call became a long chat of praising managers and talking about company accomplishments while keeping a lot of issues under the hood (like being required to make tasks that software developement was not able to solve). There can be a lack of work-life balance due to working with global clients and have either been required to work or have calls at 7am or 11pm. Salaries are low for the amount of effort required and bonus commission is baffling with such high targets.

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback. We welcome your suggestions and will reflect on how we could improve further. As you pointed out, our company indeed sets the "customers first" - which is also one of our core values. We aim to be the most customer-centric company in the industry and also "fix bad experiences" - which is another company value of PlaytestCloud. We aim to be the most employee friendly company and we constantly strive to create frameworks that reflect this ambition. Our regular employee surveys results demonstrate that people feel valued and appreciated at PlaytestCloud while working in an environment that offers them a great amount of flexibility and freedom. We already do pretty good - but you're right!- there's always room for improvement. We are sorry that we fell short of your expectations in this regard and we will try to do better. With regards to the total size of our company reflected on LinkedIn - unfortunately we do not have control over our playtesters listing PlaytestCloud as their employer. They are proud to be a part of our playtesting panel. For the record, we currently have over 30 full time employees. Your review is marked as "current employee" but talks about you being a former employee of PlaytestCloud. While completely understandable that employees do leave companies for various reasons, we are incredibly proud that we have had 100% employee retention in 2022. We attribute this to our culture of openness and honesty. We once again thank you for being a part of our team and for sharing your feedback. We wish you the best in your future endeavors. Best, PlaytestCloud Team

Dear Employee, Thank you for your post and for sharing your perspective. I want to emphasize that we conduct annual salary benchmarks across all departments to ensure our compensation aligns with market rates. In fact, we aim to pay within or at the higher end of the salary ranges for similar companies in Berlin and our industry. I would like to further emphasize that we treat every complaint with care and take it very seriously. Although we have not received any complaints about bullying in the past (neither formally in a call nor via our anonymous speak-up form), I can assure you that we will discuss this matter internally with the leadership team. Thank you once again for sharing your thoughts. Best, Philip (Head of People & Organization)

I further want to highlight that we track key people metrics, such as turnover, retention, or engagement scores, and regularly analyze them against industry and organizational benchmarks. If we notice significant changes, we discuss them with the leadership team to identify and implement appropriate action steps. We firmly believe that every individual's experience is valid and deserves to be heard. If we created the impression that we are not open to feedback, that means we fell short of our ambitions and we are sorry for that. We will discuss your feedback internally, and we will explore how it can be translated into actionable steps to further strengthen our company culture. Thank you once again for sharing your thoughts. Best, Philip (Head of People & Organization)
