Management does not communicate openly to supervisors let alone other staff. Management positions are often filled from outside the organization. Layers of middle managers have been added to the org chart recently, resulting in more friction and politics in serving the business needs. Employee head count has gone down steadily in recent years despite several acquisitions. New positions were created due to acquisitions where existing staff were not permitted to apply.
Compensation lags behind competitors but benefits are comparable. Department managers are often overworked themselves and seem stressed out. Annual review process is not worthwhile and merit increases commonly lagged behind inflation rates. Employees of little value are perpetually retained while valuable assets are lost to competitors. Company values are meaningless when they are not enforced from the top of the org chart.
