Great team, sexist founders

Pros

The potential to build something great is definitely present and there is a special synergy and high level of caring between the non-executive members of the team. Team lunch provided once a week.

Cons

Founders are painfully inexperienced, ego-driven and sexist. They are unable to get out of their own way to allow a talented and motivated team to get things done and move the company forward.

Regardless of validity, it's truly unfortunate that this person feels this way. Sexism is a serious issue and we don't take it lightly. With all due respect to this anonymous poster, I can say that there has been no conscious or subconscious prejudice regarding, sex, race, religion or age. One of the core values here at BloomNation is to "Embrace Individuality". Our platform is built by individuals with a variety of backgrounds and beliefs for small businesses who also have a variety of backgrounds and beliefs. We are a company built around community, transparency and honesty. In fact, as CEO I PROACTIVELY took an initiative to have an open conversation with the team regarding sexism (given team size was growing) and appointed someone on the team to be a person (non Manager/Executive) to communicate to if there were any issues, so that we could fix them right away. We had zero issues submitted and no one brought up any issues regarding this. It's truly saddens me that someone would anonymously use this forum as their first mention of this feeling. Nevertheless, we will continue to push our commitment to making this a fair, fun and exciting place to work no matter who you are.

I Wish I Had Never Joined This Company

Pros

There are good people trying to do good things, but sadly, they can't change the company culture, and I imagine they won't stay for long.

Cons

I'm on edge and apprehensive every single day. There is a revolving door at this place, and I'm just waiting for the phone call that I'm next. I have no support from my manager. People are micromanaged all the way from the top. The culture is very much shut up and do as you're told, all while being gaslit that this is a cool, groovy company. Also this is not a startup. It's an older company with poor infrastructure. The co-founders are convinced that they have it all figured out and don't need anyone's input. I have never felt so alone and silenced in any job I've ever had.

Lacks culture, vision, and experience

Pros

The employees are nice and want the company to succeed. If your job is well defined and the expectations are set before you start, you will have a much better time here. The pressure can be extremely overwhelming, and the majority of the company has less than one year of tenure there. Most employees don't make it to 12 months. This is mostly due to lack of culture, management, and vision from the founding team.

Cons

Huge attrition rates have plagued this company. More people seem to quit or are fired than people sticking around. The company lacks a clear vision and can't seem to truly differentiate itself as a reason to buy flowers through them. Many employees can't really describe what the company "is", and the platform has a lot of problems. The founding team is very inexperienced, and they rarely seem on the same page about things. In fact, they have brought it up several times in team meetings about how they are trying to create alignment between them, but after months of trying nothing really changed. Engineering seems to have tons of problems as well, since the original team walked out, and the current team continues to struggle despite many new hires. Marketing is practically nonexistent, and also has a lot of trouble getting projects off the ground. This is both due to the founders and the lack of experience on the team.
