Pros

Free water and k cups.

Cons

After completing all interviews with Pronto, they didn't have the position available that I applied for. One month later, they found a position for me and I got hired to work here after graduating from college. I moved to the city they were based out of and got laid off a month and a half in because they didn't have any work left for me. This was my first job in software engineering. I worked directly for the president Hunter T Kingsley and it was a horrific experience. During my time there I got verbally berated multiple times, as did the other employees. It made me lose a lot of confidence in myself as a software engineer. As for the other employees in the office, they were kind and easy to get along with. I didn't talk with them much though because I was constantly worried about losing my job, so I exerted all of my energy staying on task.

Pros

Only good thing is the benefits.

Cons

Was sort of left to struggle in the role. I feel that the company had no strong marketing plan and the communications was not that great.

The CEO of Pronto Progress is not the person overseeing the company. The President of the Pronto Progress is Hunter Kingsley. It is unfortunate that this person was not a good fit.

Pros

• Good pay • Benefits Good pay. I was getting paid 25.00/hour and benefits were good. That is about it.

Cons

• No training • Work environment and atmosphere is mentally draining • No collaborative programming • No introduction to software you will be using to code • You either know it or you do not When I was hired, no one introduced their names to me. I worked in a small suite in the Wackerman Building in Chicago downtown cramped with 6 employees total. They do not use any IDE program for me to code. When I debugged code, it will not tell me an error or indicate which line has an error or any type of feedback to me as a programmer to locate why the code had errors. I was not allowed to ask another programmer for help either because the programmer told me "I cannot be doing your work for you but I can show you a PDF." The PDF the other programmer showed me had no coding examples at all. Also, I did not plan on him doing my work for me. I was hired with the mentality that I can ask questions and share ideas and thoughts with my peers to learn from each other. No. That does not happen in this company. They said I was going to be assigned a client in the future and I am not allowed to ask anyone for help because other programmers have their own client. I had to Google the universe for a solution when I was stuck. I had to pick up code that was coded by someone else and it was awful to debug because I was not coding in an IDE so no error messages or anything to tell me why the code was not working. When I was stuck on my code, I had limited resources. My only resource was Google or call a senior programmer to talk to him on the phone which was difficult over the phone. When I was out of solutions and after Googling the universe, I was stuck. No one was able to help me. I stared at my computer for 8 hours everyday still stuck on the same line of code or some error in my code that can be anywhere that the crappy ERP software that was coding in could not tell me. 8 hours a day I was getting paid a lot but not worth my sanity and I was very unhappy because I was not learning. I quit eventually. No regrets.
